Let's suspend disbelief, would you pay Saban 10 million a year?

If you knew he'd say yes, would you pay him 10 million?

You would get a good return on your investment, easy business decision.

Would Bama let us outbid them?

He is probably worth to them anything we could offer

If money isn't an issue, absolutely. He's the best coach hands down and you pay him whatever it takes to get him or keep him if you're serious about winning. I'm surprised he hasn't gotten 10 mil from Alabama yet.

Which is why Bama doesn't let him walk away over a measly $1,750,000.

Whether he comes back or not, I definitely do it to try and raise the payroll of Alabama. At this point we have to do everything we can to get a competitive advantage.

Make them start paying as much as possible, maybe that means they are late upgrading facilities or not paying for the young, up and coming assistant. That is honestly a strategy that Reagan used on the Russians, and after all they are both the red tide.

The price solely for Saban is not a problem, the price of the freaking support corporation he says he needs is the problem.

Nope. Nobody could. Everyone else would drop out before we'd quit

yes, of course, but there would be an enormous buyout if he wanted to leave.

He did fine at LSU.

-Took 2 years to win the SEC vs 3 at Bama
-Took 4 years to win the NC vs 3 at Bama
-Lost 3 games following first NC at both

those 05/06/07 teams were ready to go on a modern Bama like run when he left. Hell miles won 34 games and an NC with those teams. Saban couldn't have done 36 and 2?
That would be good for 3 NCs in 5 seasons. And who knows how stacked his 08 and beyond teams would have been. Saban signed the #1 class in only his second year at LSU

Sabans youth and the NFL itch are why LSU didn't have its dynasty. Good ole Les miles almost Had one with the monster Saban built at LSU if not for Saban setting up shop next door

I'm glad we had him, we aren't the program we have been this century without him. Neither are you though

If it includes all the added benefits of moving the SEC offices to Baton Rouge and keeping the SEC officials in his back pocket, the answer would be a resounding yes. He and NCAA President Mark Emmert would rekindle their cozy relationship back at LSU reminiscing when Emmert hired Nick. See if the tables were turned and LSU had everything loaded from the SEC in its own back yard, along with an unlimited supply of talent in our own back yard, Gumps would cry foul for sure. But to their dismay, Nick and Emmert are buddies. Welcome to what every other SEC team deals with now. Regardless, I wouldn't want his arse back here anyway. He's not about to continue coaching much longer. Even if he would, with all those SEC Bama advantages they surely don't deserve, they know with the right homerun hire, and the NFL loaded talent in our back yard, it's a whole new ballgame. THAT is what they truly fear. Miles was able to do it and should have beat them undermanned 2 out of the last 4 years. They know the UNREAL talent we have here. The right coach will have them calling the SEC headquarters to see what sanctions can be put on us. It's a dirty game you play, but we're fully ready for the next round and it won't be so fun for you this time around. When it happens, don't get off these message boards. Take your medicine, because it's coming.
