Les Miles to Arkansas never made sense for either side

I conclude that Miles was never offered.

Long had already said we wouldn't make a hire until next week.

It's crazy to think there was any chance Miles would accept the bad PR that would come from jumping ship, just to be at a slightly better program.

It was never going to happen.

all we heard that day was why would Miles leave a program for LSU for a program like Arkansas

The offer happened. If Miles had accepted, well and good for Arky. And even if he didn't, which Long had to think was the likliest outcome, a message was sent.

Namely, that Arkansas is willing to break the bank to hire the best coach possible. Somewhere, some big-name coach sat up and took notice of that $27 million, five year deal.

It will pay off for you.
