by almost all accounts we're gonna end up with Lane Kiffin as OC. and he's been good at bama, obviously, but all of sabans offenses have been good, and more or less consistent, no matter who the OC has been.

points per game

2016 - 39.4 (Kiffin)
2015 - 35.1 (Kiffin)
2014 - 36.9 (Kiffin)
2013 - 38.2 (Nussmeier)
2012 - 38.7 (Nussmeier)
2011 - 34.8 (McElwain)
2010 - 35.7 (McElwain)

yards per game and yards per play

2016 - 479.6 and 6.63 (Kiffin)
2015 - 427.1 and 5.89 (Kiffin)
2014 - 484.5 and 6.66 (Kiffin)
2013 - 454.1 and 7.15 (Nussmeier)
2012 - 445.5 and 6.95 (Nussmeier)
2011 - 429.6 and 6.46 (McElwain)
2010 - 444.1 and 6.96 (McElwain)

pass yards per game and QBR

2016 - 233.7 and 150.93 (Kiffin)
2015 - 227.1 and 143.46 (Kiffin)
2014 - 277.9 and 155.73 (Kiffin)
2013 - 248.5 and 164.46 (Nussmeier)
2012 - 218.0 and 174.29 (Nussmeier)
2011 - 215.2 and 142.51 (McElwain)
2010 - 261.2 and 167.79 (McElwain)

rush yards per game and rush yards per play

2016 - 245.92 and 5.71 (Kiffin)
2015 - 199.93 and 4.67 (Kiffin)
2014 - 206.64 and 5.10 (Kiffin)
2013 - 205.62 and 5.80 (Nussmeier)
2012 - 227.50 and 5.59 (Nussmeier)
2011 - 214.46 and 5.49 (McElwain)
2010 - 182.92 and 5.09 (McElwain)

(obviously the headline for this one is the huge jump in yards per game, but this is also the first year running the read option with hurts. yards per play is still consistent)

Hard to argue with you there

But our fans will argue against stone cold facts until they are blue in the face. Once an Lsu fan gets a hold of a "feeling" or "emotion", there is no letting go

The only thing that skews this is that kiffin hasn't had much to work with at qb. Sims was garbage before kiffin, Coker was an average qb, and now he is putting up great numbers with a freshman qb. But, the stats do show they are all similar.

Good post. Really interesting stats.

Can you post the same stats for LSU for the same years?

McElwain is a head coach now, which further strengthens the Kiffin argument.

like to add that Nussmeier and McElwain are both at florida now, and florida is second to last in the SEC in total offense

No offense, but will he have more to work with at LSU than he did at Bama? I know he won't immediately have as good of an offensive line at LSU as he did at Bama. It's going to take awhile for you to build that kind of depth.

debatable imo. LSU's scheme didn't help the offensive line. they constantly had to block 8, under miles.

You really want to debate that LSU has more talent at oline than Alabama? That is rich.

well remember when Mac got the job and at the press conference said he could start his dog at QB. maybe he should try that.

Bama's OL is better. People shouldn't argue that. They are the Dallas Cowboys OL of college. Almost at least.

Does Blake Sims, Jake Coker, and Jalen Hurts win national championships with other teams?

I didn't think so

I misread the second part of your post. I was reading as "he won't immediately have a good offensive line". LSU's offensive line isn't great, but I will improved with better scheme. That's what I was getting at.

I think the only thing to pull from that fact is that bama has had above average O Lines.. Yeah.. Etling would look fantastic if he had all day to throw... or is he knew that the defense would immediately get it back.

I don't understand why we're so high on Kiffin. There are good options out there.. Most are better since we won't have to replace them in a year.

LSU's most important hire coming up will be who they get as an oline coach, not offensive coordinator.
