Not sour grapes, but I think both Leonhard and Nielsen have the potential to be better than Freeman. I've been following Leonhard since we hired Aranda and wondering how Wisconsin manages to continue making home run DC hires.

As far as Nielsen goes, he's as much the defensive version of Joe Brady as you can get; star pupil learning from one of the best DC's in the NFL, even if he is a bit older than Brady. I think one of Dennis Allen's best talents is roster management and player rotation, navigating depleted rosters on a weekly basis and keeping his defenses fresh to the end of the game. If Nielsen could successfully implement that same approach at LSU along with the schemes and aggressive mindset, the ceiling would be high.

Also, I know it's been rumored that Nielsen turned down the job already, but you have to think if Brady made that big of a jump back into the NFL from LSU and he wasn't even OC, Nielsen should at least seriously consider an offer.

And just to be clear, I stress the word "potential" here. I'm not claiming that either of them will be better than Freeman but IMO it's certainly possible.

You are going to believe some dip shite in Oregon about LSU’s DC search ....God you were gullible

He must have been talking about looking for a DC coach in Oregon! That isn't a bad idea to get away from SEC coaches retread.

What do u mean one of his best traits is roster management?

Nielsen already turned lsu down.

Someone with an upward trajectory in the nfl isn't going to step back down to lsu under coach o

Yeah, I wasn't sure if that had been confirmed or not.

Like I said in my post, it worked out pretty well for Brady and he wasn't even a coordinator.

May be an unpopular opinion but we can do a lot worse than Steele. Not my first, second, or third choice, not even 4th, but he is the only guy that held 2019 LSU in check. He’s a solid defensive mind

I wouldn’t mind if Steele got the job. He’s shown a lot of improvement since he’s left LSU.
Shown a great ability to adjust defense to get best players on the field. Something we lacked big time last year.

That is why if he beat LSU offense then take him in to prevent that from happening again. Not a bad idea!
