Just met Dave Aranda

Yes this is pertinent to the coaching board.....Got on a plane this morning in Atlanta to Huntsville AL. He's meeting 2 local LB recruits. I first congratulated him on his new contract and then said to him that I know he probably doesn't have time to read the news much, but I told him how all the fans have been freaking out when it was rumored he was joining Herman at UT. And how some folks were concerned about how long it took from O's announcement to the signing.
He busted out laughing and said there was never a doubt that he was saying.
Great guy! Talked a few other things but that should go on other boards.
Oh and btw, he had a binder!
No sauces here just facts!

I'm shocked that people assume he was interested in that job despite having ZERO evidence that he was. He quickly agreed to terms here on a new deal, he's been out recruiting, and he signed a new contract here. He's had no contact with texas that anyone even knows of, but yes he was torn on the decision. Clearly.

Just asked him who he was visiting and he said 2 LB recruits here one from Buckhorn other from JC. I did most of the talking and he would just answer my questions. Mentioned Delpit and Jacoby Stevens and he said both will be special players. Talked about Heisman race and how Lamar Jackson is really good. Just some small talk really.
He was very quiet and I didn't want to act like I was a teenage fanboy or some stalker. He worked a lot on the plane before takeoff with texts and calls and stuff and then broke out a binder with some plays and a handwritten journal with all kinds of stuff from notes to formations.etc.
When we got off the plane I asked him for a photo op so he did me the honor and we took a selfie. Again the man was working so I didn't talk much to him except when wasn't working.
Gotta make sure we win the bowl game and ink those recruits

I would pay to be in a room with this guy and be able to pick his brain. As someone who's graduating next December and going into coaching, that would be quite the opportunity!
