Just a thought on Aranda and Herman

What if Alleva isn't as dumb as we all think he is? What if, just hypothetically speaking, he knew about the connection between Herman and Aranda and planned on trying to lure Herman here all along?
After last season it was pretty much a forgone conclusion that Miles would be out if he didn't produce. If he did, great LSU returned to promised land. If not, we would be after the biggest names in college coaching. Being that Jimbo and Herman were at the top of that list last year, what if Alleva approved the hire of Aranda for the purpose of drawing in Herman if the Jimbo ship had sailed?
I think anyone who's a football fan would get a bit of a chub seeing those two united on one team. Maybe, just maybe, there is a slight bit of smarts in Alleva's head.

Being as how it was Les who hired Aranda and not Alleva, I'd say your theory doesnt hold water. Id love for Aranda and Herman to both coach for us but there is no underlying master plan by Alleva.

Yes, Les made the offer, Alleva had to approve the hire. Are you all really that unfamiliar with that concept?

on December 21 Saban stated "I guess I have to say it, I'm not going to be the Alabama coach" in an effort to stop the Alabama rumors.
Every coach says this in that situation. Herman also didn't say that his agent didn't contact LSU. He would be a shitty agent if he didn't.

Exactly. He said LSU didn't contact him or his agent. That doesn't mean his agent didn't contact LSU which we all know that in all likelihood he did. The agents job is to get his client more money and LSU would equate to more money.

Don't you think LSU is going to want to figure out what characteristics it wants in its next coach, and what it is willing to pay for its next coach? You can rest assured that LSU will contact Herman, or his representative, when LSU begins the search for a permanent replacement if LSU thinks he fits within those criteria.

This is the problem with this theory. Not to mention Aranda was Les' first choice the year before, when his seat was not hot.

Just.Stop.Already.
At the point the Aranda hire took place, Les had Alleva by the balls after the failed Coup. Les could have literally wanted daffy duck for defensive coordinator and Alleva would have signed off on it. There is no grand master plan such as you mentioned. Its a cool thought but lacks any reality due to logic and facts.
