If Jimbo takes this job, he's likely here 10+ years. If Herman takes it, he is probably using LSU as a stepping stone.

Both would be great hires, but this is the key to me and one of the major reasons the admin prefers Jimbo.

LSU isn't a stepping stone job

And if he wins championships here idgaf if he leaves in a few years for the NFL

You literally have no idea of that. Say he turns LSU into a national power and we are the new Bama...why we he leave?

LSU is not a stepping stone program unless you are talking about the NFL.

Literally every coach LSU has hired since Stovall has inspired this kind of sentiment:

Miles- Michigan
Saban- NFL
Dinardo- Notre Dame
Curley- Bama or A&M
Archer- Miami
Arnsparger- Back to NFL

Only 1 of those actually happened. Just hire the best guy.

It doesn't matter if Jimbo has no intention of coming here.

I would gladly take a coach who would could guarantee early 2000's success even if he would leave in 5-6 years.

It is in some ways, especially if someone is interested in the NFL like a younger guy might be.

I didn't say either was certain, but you have greater risk of Herman leaving to the NFL than Jimbo.

Herman offers a higher ceiling.

Go for greatness.
