I think Jimbo would be a great hire for LSU but can't figure out why he would make this jump? I mean he can win NC's at FSU as he has shown so why jump into the SEC West meat grinder? It just seems like he is in a better position at FSU then coming to LSU.
I know LSU locks up the state in recruiting pretty well but it isn't like he is hurting recruiting in Florida either.

I love LSU but I just can't see why he would make this jump can someone give me a reason?

Do a search man. This has been discussed a million times since last November. Good coaches dont think like fans. They want to play and beat the best.

The ACC is actually on the rise and just as challenging to go undefeated

Didn't they do well in the bowl games vs the sec recently?

You can actually afford a loss in the SEC

The SEC still has a ton of talent but I don't know about really complete teams. Many lack great consistent qb play and he could get that along with keeping a top tier D

Discussed ad nauseum last year. Pay for his assistants. That is a big deal. That's way Bret left Wisky for Arkansas. We pay the most in college football.

It's not always about money. Sometimes people simply like one situation better than the other.

Jimbo supposedly loved his time in Baton Rouge outside of the end with Miles. He left LSU because career-wise an opportunity at FSU was hard to pass up. At that time, he had no opportunity to move up at LSU, so he left to another opportunity that would allow that with the coach in-waiting stipulation.

He has developed his skills, proven himself, and perhaps now with not only his personal/family situation, but career situation at FSU may have matched where he feels its best to move on.

It's not a shock that some coaches max things out at one place and then move on to another.

Hell, look at Tony Dungy and Jon Gruden. Both built up championship caliber teams, but could't get over the hump. Gruden goes to Tampa and wins, Dungy moves to Indy and eventually wins.

I know they aren't perfect analogies, but sometimes change is best for everyone involved, even when things look to be in pretty good shape.
