yeah but we'll go cheap because there's no money for football assistants.

Multiple coaches who have worked for, or with, Fisher said it's highly likely he would take the job if LSU meets his salary demands and gives him a long-term deal.

The administration better not screw this up.

Pay the money and get this done.

Also, this quote is quite revealing -

quote:

Alleva is said to be targeting the end of this month to the early part of December in announcing his decision,

This indicates we have someone locked up. We wouldn't be discussing announcement dates if there was any uncertainty as to who the next coach would be.

this is going to be one interesting finish. no matter who gets the job, there are going to be some hard feeling amongst the fans and coaches too.

I am starting to feel a little more confident that Alleva may be in control of things.

If the statement below is true then there is no way it can be Orgeron.

I would rather have fedora over O. O WOULD SET THIS PROGRAM BACK 20 YEARS.

I hope Fisher loves Dave aranda. With Saban retiring in the upcoming years, it would be nice to get LSU with the upper hand in the west. Coach O will not keep LSU in the top 3 in the SEC. Not in the long term.

I'm getting the feeling Fisher has possibly accepted and terms/deal is being worked out. We will know the week after Thanksgiving, maybe even that Monday.

I dunno if he's the preferred choice, but it'd be an interesting move if you can pair him w/ Dave Aranda tbh. Fedora's got a lot of question marks but he can rev it up on offense.

Fedora is a bargaining pawn. He aint getting this job. There needs to be another somewhat serious/realistic outside candidate leaked to aide LSU in Jimbo negotiations.

This is what I'm thinking as well.

The fact that the article reveals that we're looking at making an announcement in early December, or even in the days following the A&M game, tells me we already have our next coach.

Orgeron's fate might hinge on his ability to lure a top offensive coordinator to Baton Rouge to join his staff if he were hired. "He would have to have the right guy lined up, or there will be a lot of resistance from influential people," according to a source briefed on the search.

I definitely prefer Fisher but this indicates that Orgeron would have to have a top OC lined up.

I think we all know Kiffin is O's "top OC" that he would lure here. Only took the moron until midway through the fourth quarter to quit trying to get to the edge against Aranda's D.

And im not as down on O as most. I think worst case we'd be a 2012-2015 LSU winning 7-9 games with these resources. But damn, if you just roll with O it's just settling. We can do better.

And i get why people are meh on Jimbo. But with his recruiting/QB development we will be in good hands. Jimbo literally learned from the best (and Bobby Bowden). I am crazy about Herman but i get why Jimbo is our guy. Get it done Joe.

Everyone's season is basically over except maybe the conference championships. I don't see any coaches leaving those programs. I hope this is the time frame because it gives time to get connected with recruiting. Hopefully the search has been thorough and all big time coaches have been contacted. This is why firing Miles was important when it happened.

I'm sure many of those names were leaked intentionally to make this look like we conducted a thorough "search".

Jimbo was the guy last November, and he's been the guy since Miles was fired. Hell, Miles was probably fired so decisively back in September because we knew we could bring in Jimbo.

Mike Gundy needs serious consideration too. The guy Cam Cameron missed out on, Mason Rudolph, is now 5th in the country in pass yards per game with 24 TDs to 4 ints. He passed for nearly 3800 yards and 21 TDs splitting time at QB last year.

Pair Gundy with Aranda, and you have a championship level team in year 2.
