Firing Bobby Bowden or Steve Spurrier.

No, he effectively states that O is better than Miles and was all along. Miles has issues for sure, but c'mon Joe...O was the best we could do?

Alleva is the worst AD in the SEC. He needs to go! Did anyone see the article about Alleva written in 2011?? He is terrible and this search proved it!!!! He is beyond bad!

He needed to hit a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs but instead he decided to bunt.

Yes, both were taking their programs down at the end of their coaching careers. And at least both of them left without the firing drama after their realization that they were no longer positives to their programs. Les had the opportunity to right the ship, said he would and lied to LSU and kept the anchor (his stubbornness) that was sinking LSU.
So great observation, unless you thought both Bobby and Steve still should be coaching their programs and your title was suppose to be negative and not a positive thing........................

Nice little bit of revisionist history on Spurrier

I like Coach O but I would love to see fans reaction 3 years ago to fiire Miles and hire O as HC. Hopefully all works out for the best.

He repeated LSU history from 1987 when we passed up Steve Spurrier to promote Mike Archer. This will haunt the program for at least a decade just like that one did.

Archer over Spurrier meant we didn't reach the heights we could have, though we still had an SEC title and some good seasons.
Following Archer with Curley Hallman because Joe Dean went cheap is what set us back the better part of a decade. The only reason it wasn't worse was that DiNardo was able to get Kevin Faulk to sign in 1995 and get three bowl wins for us.

Not my words, but Spurrier's words......Looks like you need a history lesson:
quote:
"First of all, I'm resigning and not retiring," Spurrier said Tuesday. "I doubt if I'll ever be a head coach again ... but don't say I've retired completely. Who knows what will come in the future?
"My answer has always been the same: If it starts going south, starts going bad, then I need to get out. ... It's time for me to get out of the way and give somebody else a go at it."
...."Everybody likes to go out a winner," Spurrier told ESPN.com's Chris Low. "I thought I would, but it didn't work out. Sometimes, I guess we all push the envelope a little too far. In hindsight, I probably should have walked away after the bowl game. But we thought we had a pretty good team ready to go with some junior college kids coming in and a new defensive coordinator [Jon Hoke], but it just didn't work out."
