Could be quite a few people: pj fleck, fedora, peterson, patterson, etc.
Do i WANT all those guys? No, but at this point and time, they have better HC resumes than coach o.

It could get muddy pretty quick. Coach O loses to 2 ugly games; Herman goes to TX and Jimbo says no. Have no idea who would be best option at this point. I'm sure powers that be have contingency plans for every scenario....at least we hope they do

Peterson is bottom of A list as far as I'm concerned. But it's a moot point, he's not leaving UW.

No he is at the top of A list unless LSU screw up the next 5 games. If he does well in the next 5 games his resume would be better than all of those because none of them has face a schedule like this. Any coach who currently has the job is at the top of the list until he loses it.

They're close. I'm not ready to say Peterson is hands down better than Jimbo or Chip Kelly. He has to be ahead of Herman though, so you're right, he's not at the bottom of that group.

Would rather keep O and try to land homerun hire next year than cram a bad hire in. I think O understands this and thats why jenkins is in holding his spot as dline coach. O wants to be at lsu at any capacity.

Honestly, if Orgeron loses 2 games, Chris Peterson is the first phone call I make.
He would be my #1 choice if O doesn't dominate the rest of the season.
Peterson has an incredible resume and I have no concerns about him at all. Every other reasonable candidate I have some degree of concern with.

I agree, Herman is like an IPO, exciting but comes with a lot of risks.

PJ Fleck. End of discussion. Everyone is looking at the popular name instead of looking at potential. Fleck will get a great job after this year. May happen at a smaller school than LSU but will get a great paying job after that. I say skip stage two and grab him now.
