Does he have the balls to trot out Fedora, Gundy, Orgeron, or whoever and say that this was our number one choice all along?
-He had better not be that arrogant because that dog ain't going going to hunt with the LSU fandom.

This hire and the handling of it will define whether Alleva is looking for a job in 3 yrs.

Don't frick it up Joe!

What would be wrong with either of those candidates?

Why would it be necessary to publicly admit the failure of LSU to lure away other candidates?

Slight upgrade from O. With O being the superior recruiter for LA KIDS. O would just have to get an offensive coordinator with some skins on the wall.

The other two would neve be embraced as O. Would be seen as nothing more than reaches.

Mullet and I'm 40 and I am man speech should not be patrolling the sideline of a top 5-8 job in the country.

He needs to pull a Michigan and FORCE one of them to say yes.

Michigan's AD basically stalked Harbaugh until he said yes.

Alleva should be in Tom Hermans bushes right now outside of his house like Mr. Roony in Ferris Buellers Day Off.

Well he'd have to hire somebody

Gundy would do really well here.

Not getting Jimbo and or Herman shows Alleva really had no plan when he fired Miles. Would show poor planning by the CEO of a $100m+ company.

We re going to find out just what kind of AD we really have in the next 5-6 days.

I mean, if Jimbo wants to stay and FSU matches and Texas outbids us for an alum of their school, what is he supposed to do?

We didnt fire the most successful coach in school history to hire Larry god damn Fedora. Aleva pulls a huge name or is fired imo.

There's a pretty big gap between those two and the other coaches mentioned by the OP.

There are also several coaches who fall in that gap. "What he's supposed to do" if the top two turn him down is make all the ones in the gap say no before he runs to Fedora or Gundy.

Exactly. Some of you are really clueless how he world works. Not everyone outside of LA is a fan of lsu. Doesn't mean he didn't have a plan. He obviously does or there wouldn't be so many rumors. If it was so easy to sign a Fisher or Herman every college would try.

How exactly do you think these things work?

You'd rather Alleva keep Miles for the next 3 seasons because he didn't have another coach already signing the contract?

What makes you think Gundy wouldn't do well here?

I want Herman or Jimbo too, but Gundy is a really damn good coach. He has brought OSU to unprecedented levels for that program and has a chance to win 10 games for the 5th time in 7 years.

They have finished the regular season ranked only 14 times in over 100+ years. 6 of those times were with Gundy (none with Les Miles)

He's a great offensive mind as well.

Before Gundy, they had a losing record as a program and Gundy has won 68% of his games there.
