I know absolutely nothing.

As I have said, I'm just a fan who enjoys following the coaching carousel and pay close attention when FSU coaches are involved in the rumors.
Just my hunch/guess/speculation: Tom Herman and Texas have reached an agreement (through Herman's agent). Jimbo Fisher and LSU have also reached an agreement (through Jimbo's agent.)
Now, the fly in the ointment will be, what if Herman gets a better offer than Texas? (USC or NFL?) What if Coach O runs the table, beats Bama, wins the SEC? What if the pressure is so great that LSU backs off and gives O the job? What if Herman goes somewhere other than Texas and Texas comes calling for Jimbo?
I don't think the deals are chiseled in granite. But, I speculate/guess that "barring unforeseen circumstances" Jimbo will be in Baton Rouge in January.
I'm now compiling my own short list of who FSU will contact.
Like I said, I know nothing. Just guessing.

I know that if O wins out then there's absolutely no way they hire anybody else. That's about the only thing I know though. Chances are slim with the remaining schedule but not impossible. We'll see.

"I know nothing"
*lays out detailed scenario that probably is right*

But but but, why would Jimbo ever leave FSU for LSU?!?! His path is so much easier to the NC there!!
Looks like the FSU fans are starting to see the writing on the wall. FSU admin sees asst coaches as expendable. Thats not attractive for head coaches.

In all honesty, everyone knows nothing.
LSU hiring committee knows only slightly more than nothing.
The coach with the best resume can fail, and the worse can grow into job.
What we do know:
IF O wins out he is the HC.
Jimbo is interested in LSU.
Houston will be looking for a HC.
Texas will be looking for a HC.
LSU is a premier job, and we will get a pick from our short list.
LSU will hire a HC right after end of season. LSU's or coaches.
Speculation is an enjoyable pastime!
And every one has an opinion.

I would be VERY schocked if it's anyone but Jimbo at this point. It's obvious there's mutual interest. We are those kids on the playground that keep flirting with each other.

You and I think alike. I like to try and figure out what is going on, but I realize that I'm just guessing.
However, it is still an enjoyable way to waste some time when I can't waste it by being on the golf course.

I don't think your understanding of what a deal is is accurate.
if the premise of your post is accurate let's call these deals " potential pre arrangements that are not legally or morally binding".

Nope. Proven long term success is a prerequisite. Keeping a team on point for a half a season is not synonymous with that.

I think even more telling is that both of them's TEAMS have checked out. Did they possibly tell their players already now that both are out of the playoff hunt?
