well if he ends up running things, i'm hoping he isn't worse than what we have experienced already with the clock

No need to worry. Miles will make sure he's on top of it.

It's a serious question. I love Miles, but it is a weakness for which he takes a lot of heat. If Kragthorpe manages the clock well it will most likely fix this problem.

Most of the time asking a question is intelligent, but apparently it isn't when you ask idiots.

It's a serious question.

How serious is the problem, really? We've lost one game due to clock mismanagement, and we deserved to lose to Ole Miss anyway. Some on here act as if every other D1 coach has an unblemished record when it comes to clock management.

You saw the question in the title and yet you still clicked on the link when you thought it was stupid...

From a W-L perspective it isn't that important, but it has shown up in multiple games. From a perception standpoint, it seems significant as it can effect us in the polls. How often was the Tennessee game brought up when discussing our ranking last year (and that was a game we won). I understand that part of the problem is that there is limited practice time during the year and trade offs have to be made (and when you are trying to fix a struggling offense you probably aren't going to be spending much of your time running the two-minute drill).

On the other hand, when we lose it usually isn't by much. A few extra points at the end of the half here or there could be the difference between 11-2 and 14-0.

Why do people make excuses and act like this is some kind of off-base question? It's been a recurring problem that wasn't fixed even after the Ole Miss embarrassment. Some of you need to get a grip.

Don't be too hard on them, Matt. I'm sure the pending demise of the coaching changes board has them in a bad mood.

It's happened once and it happened because Crowton didn't call 2 plays and tried to get too cute switching personnel late. Sure, it's ultimately Miles' fault, but it's happened once. Relax.

How about the end of the cap one bowl against Penn St.? How about the end of the Tennessee game? I'll admit that part of the issue was that our offense was anemic (hopefully that is changing).

But rather than arguing about the validity of the question, Is there anyone that can answer the original question? In his previous stops, how was Kragthorpe with clock management? And while we are at it, how did his teams do in the two minute drill?

that's what I meant by it's happened once since the Ole Miss game. There was no horrible mismanagement issue with PSU game.

It's happened once

we lost 1 game b/c of it, but it has happened more than once

we always waste a ton of time in late-game situations

we get lucky as frick often and it bails out miles (do i need to bring up UTenn 2010 to prove my point?), but it happens all the time

you're thinking of clock mismanagement as in the last play or 2 only

when we get down to where we have no time left, it's often because of 5-6 plays where we waste a ton of time

that's where the mismanagement occurs
