Or hell, even Fedora? Am I missing something here? O's pitch is literally, "I'll hire a good OC".

They are very dumb. They don't seem to care that he got a shot at a running a program once and was terrible

Gundy is 60 games above .500 at a little brother school and has brought them to a handful of major bowl games. O went 10 and frickin' 25 as a HC.

"My overall head coaching record is shite, and I've never been trusted to even run a defense... But I'm a Louisiana baw and I'm the best hype man since Flavor Flav!"

That was 10 yrs ago. Isn't it possible he's grown as a coach since then?

He learned that he shouldn't call defenses, or be involved in anything besides recruiting and yawing.

Gundy at LSU will be fired in year 4-5. He'll start out with 10 maybe 11 wins then slowly lose as he can't restock the way Leslie could. O would probably be a little better and keep the winning about where it is but the team will be stacked for the next guy. That is why if the top two or say know you settle for best recruiter who has proven he can beat the brakes of the mid-tier teams and hang with the best ones. Remember just how close we were to 11-1 or 10-2.

Maybe but LSU isn't the place to roll the dice on it.

He sat out 2014 and was openly lobbying for head jobs. I don't think he got a single interview. That speaks volumes IMO

Gundy has had double digit win seasons in a talent barren state, playing second fiddle to OU. Acting like he couldn't get talent to LSU is retarded.
