Sort of an Interim HC that becomes permanent because of decent early success.

Seen as an all LSU all Louisiana guy.

Relative success early, but it wont last.

The difference is that we have 3 years at Ole Miss to evaluate O on.

Don't insult Stovall that way. He was a very decent man

Unrelated, as it's a different sport, but I'm sick of Louisiana guys getting the benefit of the doubt. Ex: JJ

Love O, but folks are crowning him king of LSU over Jimbo after one game

Threads like this very one are the reason he's getting the crowning. People assume LSU has this big catch out there and say we shouldn't even consider O. Others reply and say we should. He'll get a fair chance (as he should) and the decision makers will make a decision.

Ole Miss was a decade ago. It was his first job. Are you seriously saying its impossible for him to have learned better ways to run a program since then?

I'm sure he's become a better coach since that experience, but do you really want to find out at LSU? He should have spent the last decade proving what he learned at a lesser program. LSU is not a training ground for failed coaches.

I don't give a shite about his last few games. He has a shite defense and lost his DC because FSU will not pony up to keep coordinators. This is fact and has been something he and FSU fans have complained about.

He's an offensive guy who needs funds to hire the right DC. LSU will do that.

Don't be short sighted.

How does that make him qualified to have arguably a top 5 coaching job in the sec west? One game? Being from Louisiana? Let the season play out, good lord.

Well that's why his time at USC was valuable.

Also, Herman is a pretty big unknown as well. He's been a head coach for 2 years. At Houston. That says nothing about his ability to run a program the size of LSU.

When did I say we should make a decision right now? Good lord.

Coaching for 8 games in an interim basis is nothing compared to running and maintaining a program for multiple years. O needs to prove he can do that before he is given the keys to a top 5 program.

Amen. A perfect example is Pete Carroll.

Except Pete Carroll spent a decade dominating at USC before getting another chance.

Dude, ease up on it.

With that said, where did you stand on "done deal"?

Ok well who has PROVEN to do that?
Herman? no
Jimbo? Some would say he's trending downward now

Please tell me a realistic candidate who has proven themselves already. Keep in mind, there are only 4 active head coaches in the entire country who have ever won a national title.

I don't know, but the AD of LSU should. I can tell you it's certainly not coach O.

As I said in the other thread, the national title argument is extremely silly. At one point, each of those 4 guys had never won a championship, either.

The answer is nobody who is a legit candidate.
