Like who? Nick Saban wasn't pursued by anyone since joining Bama.
Saban- LSU, Miami Dolphins, Bama....and I am sure alot of other teams. He is extremely highly paid at Bama and had changed jobs 3 times in what 3 years....and Bama would likely match or beat any potential offers. Most schools aren't willing to pay Bama type money.

exactly. When Miles is one of the top 5 paid coaches in college football and a one of the top programs, then I'd say LSU would be on that list as well.
As a LSU fan I don't think LSU is as attractive a job as the teams that are more well known for being elite.
Better question is why would teams that aren't paying LSU type money and won't pay it go after Miles. They wouldn't. Other than Michigan what top teams need to hire Miles?

Are they persued in honesty by the AD's or is this chase mainly the Rantings of uninformed fans?
I said IMO. Saban was always thought to be on everyones short list that could afford him. Same with Ferenz for example....but Ferenz isn't mentioned as much b/c no one thinkls he will leave Iowa. I would tend to think that alot of rumors of coaches being pursued are true.

They weren't? Show me one of those coaches who wasn't. Don't laugh with out supplying the reason to laugh.

Miami is a NFL team, not a college program. Saban went to Bama when he wanted to return to college. Again, since being at Bama, he wasn't pursued by any other college teams. When Saban was at LSU, he wasn't pursued by any other college teams. Same for all of these guys.
Top 6 college salaries:
Alabama - Nick Saban 6.0 M
Texas - Mack Brown 5.2 M
Oklahoma - Bob Stoops 4.4 M
Florida - Urban Meyer 4.0 M
LSU - Les Miles 3.9 M
Ohio State- Jim Tressel 3.9 M

Most schools aren't willing to pay Bama type money.
quote:Name 10-15 schools that are a better job than LSU, especially when LSU pays a top 5 salary.
As a LSU fan I don't think LSU is as attractive a job as the teams that are more well known for being elite.
quote:Because they supposovly offered Harbaugh over $5 M. Also, because Miles is a Michigan alumni and a Bo Schembechler man. I guarantee you that if Miles gets hired by Michigan, he's going to be making $4M+.
Better question is why would teams that aren't paying LSU type money and won't pay it go after Miles.

They weren't? Show me one of those coaches who wasn't.
Stoops by Florida is the only one....and I can post a link to prove it. LINK
Also, which program are you talking about that had Saban on their "short list"? Iowa State? I'd love any link to show where Saban was rumored to go anywhere. or Tressel. or Brown. or Stoops. or Meyer.

you're right i hear mack brown, jim tressel and pete carroll (when @ USC) names mentioned for other top jobs every year. What was the last coach that left what would be considered a top 10 college job for another top 10 college job? if it happens at all its extremely rare.
if there name is mentioned at all its because of some prior connection to the school like miles/michigan and stoops/UF or its Notre Dame b/c they believe they can get any catholic head coach they want. maaayybeee you can add in if a coach is like the Larry Brown of college football he'll get mentioned too but it would be rare.

I don't disagree so what is your point?

You have proof of this?

What is your point? Mine is Miles makes way more money than any other college is willing to pay...except Michigan.

My point is that he would be a top candidate at many other programs IF he wasn't already at LSU.

Mack Brown had UNC in the top 10 didn't he????
I can't lie I was arguing based on NFL....I overlooked that they had to be pursued by other top 10 colleges.

My arguemnet was predicated on NFL teams pursuing those coaches...didn't realize it was ONLY for top 10 colleges.
WHo in the top 10 would want Miles?

quote:top ten PROGRAMS; getting what is considered an average program ranked in the top ten for a year or two is how a head coach moves to a top ten PROGRAM. Bryan Kelly did this at Cincinnati, Urban Meyer @ Utah, etc.

If he wasn't at LSU already, I bet alot of teams would be very interested if their HC job came open.

LSU fans were so happy when they stole him away from OSU. From what I remember most fans thought WTF?

Stoops? Carrol? Of all the coaches listed do you believe Miles is as well thought of as a coach?

4 10+ win seasons in 6 years in the toughest conference in football. 3-3 against Meyer. 2-2 against Saban. 2nd best record (1 game shy of 1st) over the past 6 years in the SEC. Same win % as Saban at LSU/Bama combined. 1 NC. All with 2 different OCs and 3 different DCs.
So....in coaching circles, yes I do.

I seriously doubt those rumors were true. If they conducted a poll nationwide of the top 5 college coaches you think Miles would get ranked in the top 5? Why can't you Miles lovers admit that he is not highly regarded nationally?

Miles has NEVER built a program....and don't come here with that bs he was 28-21 at OSU.....that is mediocre at best.

If you are out somewhere and no other men hit on your girlfriend....do you still think she's hot and want to be with her.....or do you need other men constantly hitting on her to justify your choice?
