Mike and Mike talked about it and said there is a slim chance he would ever coach again but if he did it would never be at the college level. So next time you guys are looking for a coach please do not put Gruden on the top of your list. Hear that UTcheaters.

M and M have gotten to know him because of ESPN and say that he really likes what he is doing. So why change if you are making the money he makes? The second paragraph is my take.

Any time I see Gruden's name on a coaching list i think:

A) He's trying to get more money from ESPN
B) The school is reaching to get more eyeballs on their program
C) The AD is an idiot
D) No way he'll be a college coach

Never once have I thought that he'll actually coach again.

yes but you would be surprised every time the UT job came open their fans on this site posted them as their #1 target. Plus ESPN probably does not play the money game if someone wants to go somewhere then let him.

ESPN pays him over 6 million to talk about football, no chance he coaches again.

This right here....think about your own jobs: the demands, the stress, the rewards. Now imagine if someone offered to pay you more money than you've ever made to work a few days a week & talk about how others are executing in your old profession. That's why guys like Gruden, Cower, Dungy etc will never coach again.

That, and the fact he is not a good coach.

I would agree except think ESPN's day of financial reckoning is coming. He may be looking for employment when it's time to re-up

Unless his wife is an Imelda Marcos level shopper or he has a massive gambling problem, no way he would ever need to work again after pulling down $6 million a year for a few years.

It's not a question of money, it's a question of having something to do.

If I already had a SB ring and got paid a shite ton of money to call one NFL game a week I'd never coach again either.

He's a super bowl champion if he never coaches again. Why go back into coaching and taint that if you're making the big money from ESPN with way less work.

This. Gruden has already reached the mountain-top, he accomplished something most NFL coaches never achieve, and that is win a Super Bowl. Gruden knows the frustration of trying to repeat that success and have consistency as a winning coach, as his struggles in post-Super Bowl Tampa showed.

He is a great coach, and I think he should return to coaching one day, but if in the mean-time he makes an awesome salary in a laid-back job, and gets to spend much more time with his family than he would if he was still a coach, I don't blame him for staying put at ESPN.
