Could it be that he and/or his agent knows that LSU has Jimbo (or in doomsday scenario, Orgeron) locked in and they fed the leaks to ESPN in order to freak Texas out to get them to make Herman an offer? Otherwise if Herman does nothing, Texas doesn't feel pressure to fire strong and they retain Charlie another year and Herman is stuck at Houston playing in that conference another year and risks damaging his ridiculously high stock value?

I've got to think LSU would have already made an announcement for Orgeron if Fisher said 100% get lost. It's been almost a week for FSU to Hammer out the supposed contract extension. Sure it's Thanksgiving time, but we are talking multi-million dollar business - CFB doesn't sleep when premiere coaches are at stake.

Texas media manipulation. They have several media outlets, and ESPN is connected to these outlets. Texas is the only media responsible for the leaks of anything, true leaks or not. Texas is to blame.

It's actually been confirmed that the leaked Herman information was from longhorns insiders. Combine that with the clear bias from ESPN (they own Longhorn Network) and you see who stands to gain from Herman rumors being leaked

None of this makes sense. If UT does in fact plan to let Strong go....wouldn't they conduct a search of their own and interview more than just a relatively unproven Herman? For all intents and purposes....he's basically Charlie Part 2. Would they really give him an offer tomorrow without doing due diligence to see who else...maybe a bigger name....they could attract? After all, if they are "UT" and have the almighty dollar....shouldn't they be knocking on a few doors first before offering up? Seems kind of strange really....

Good point. Plus just bc Texas media leaked it, someone had to have fed them that info.

LSU and Herman's representation is already working on hammering out a deal.

UT found out and leaked the information. There's no way Herman's agent told Texas with the intent of the information going public.
