He has been consulting a few weeks, he wasn't sure if he was going to take the full time coaching gig. Still not sure if it's official

Like the resume but may be an over correction to BDP, I'd rather him be a shadow guy while a recruiter holds the STs coach title

We've had that for awhile and our ST's have shite the bed consistently. Give me a coach that knows what he's doing.

So everyone is saying " wow, homerun hire!!" .....
If so, why has he had so many different gigs???

Not trying to be negative, I just don't know much about him and that doesn't make sense...

I think that's the way it is in the NFL, many long time ST guys have coached multiple teams. Not a position where coaches stay a long time.

Peveto was an elite recruiter and landed some big prospects for us over the years. We now have solid tacticians for DC, OC, and STC. We need to get a big time recruiter to fill that extra coaching spot we get in January.

Don't care what they coach.

Keep in mind that some of his "firings" were merely due to the HC getting fired. New coaches like to bring their own guts in.

You can have both, Mccgaughey fir example. STs coaching isn't hard, BDP was just inept

Appears most of them are actually.

How is his recruiting? He hasn't coached in college since 1990.

He was a consultant most of the year and the ST's still sucked. Not crazy about this hire. Between April and Jenkins you have really old people that won't recruit.

"handling special teams in house for the bowl" makes sense now if this guy was consulting this yr, bit of a stretch but still fits

How do you over correct on hiring a coach? Are we afraid of getting someone too good?

It's not like over steering, or is it?

A. He was not a consultant most of the year.

B. Consultants can't hands on coach or speak with players. Big limit on how much they can help.

I'm saying BDP was so bad it's overstated the need for a pure STs coach

And they can't light a fire under the kids asses or make game time adjustments.

Serious question: How the hell was BDP such a good recruiter? He's a squirly looking, bald, middle aged white man and he is not a very good coach.

Maybe he missed his calling as a politician.
