Surprised this guy isn't coming up more often in coaching search discussions. He's in his 4th year at Toledo and has them undefeated and ranked #20, and judging from their schedule they may very well win 11 or 12 games this year. His overall record is 33-13, 2-1 in bowls.

2012: 9-4
2013: 7-5
2014: 9-4
2015: 7-0

He's an Midwest guy and has spent pretty much his entire life in Ohio, so I doubt he gets a look at jobs like Miami, USC or South Carolina, but I think he'd be a good fit for a job like Minnesota or Illinois.

He will take one of the B1G jobs, probably Minnesota as it's a better situation than Illinois

Yeah, I think he's a very good fit for the Big Ten. Minnesota is a much better job than Illiois, and he'd do well there.

There's a decent chance Purdue comes open too I think. Not sure on any of the other B1G jobs

He should and would still take the Minnesota job over Purdue also

I don't think any of those Big Ten jobs are necessarily worth the jump. Some of those places are absolute graveyards. Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, awful. Maryland wouldn't be a bad place if they fully commit to the "Oregon-east" thing, but they're still in the harder division of the league.

If Kentucky Stoops gets picked up by someone bigger, that would be a good landing spot for Campbell. Or wait it out for Louisville to open up (though Brohm is probably tops on their list).

I think Campbell will be a good hire for someone, but we might not be hearing his name much yet since a lot of MAC coaches du jour haven't panned out.

Gill, Beckman and Hazell were disasters. Kill and Doeren have done nice jobs, but Minnesota and NC State haven't become contenders in their respective divisions.

Unless I'm forgetting someone, Brian Kelly is the only former MAC coach that has had a lot of success in recent years.

Butch Jones did pretty well following Kelly at both CMU and Cincy. But prior to that, Urban Meyer going from Bowling Green to Utah was probably the most successful jump. That was way prior to the Pac 12 too, so maybe the jump from MAC to power conference is too steep. The most successful recent coaches have all gone to an intermediate step in between.

I almost mentioned Urban and Butch, but Urban left for Utah over a decade ago and Butch was helped by what Kelly had built at CMU and Cincy. Like you said though, I think the jump straight from the MAC to the P5 might be too much, too soon.

Yeah Minnesota is the only one worth it IMO out of the B1G jobs

who's going to pick him up? he could very easily miss a bowl for the third straight season.

He has a really low salary. He could be a backfill candidate at one of the AAC schools that loses a HC (Memphis, Houston, Temple). They could double+ his salary

The extent to which that place was a dumpster fire cannot be overstated. He's vastly improved what's going on there.

Never thought id see another Purdue fan on here.

I think Campbell is a legit name for a decent job. No way he should settle on a slight pay raise at an AAC school.

Purdue would be glad/lucky to have him and I think he could get us back to respectability. I really like Dino Babers too. Either of those guys could realistically have Purdue at 5-3 at this point in our year.

Sucks that a walkon most likely saved our Head Coaches job. No way they keep Shoop though. No way.

Not actually a Purdue fan, just like the logo. Ha.

Now Babers is definitely a guy I could see fitting at Purdue. Maybe even Illinois, they need to inject some life into their program and that offense could do it.

As bad as Purdue is right now, we are a better program than Illinois. Two differences, we have history and we pay.

We'll outbid whoever we go up against for the guy we want.

We offered Butch Jones $3mil, but he came to campus didn't like the facilites, hated the AD and left without a handshake 3 years ago. Purdue isn't a job where we'll ever get the hot national candidates but most MAC coaches see it as a logical next step.

I like Babers because he's won at most of his stops and I like Campbell because he seems like a true program builder.

Stoops has a great blueprint too. They've done a great job picking up kids from Ohio that OSU didn't want to supplement under the radar guys from the south. They are definitely trending in the right direction

A good year for an also ran in the SEC east is 8-4. Just too many good teams you have to play with vastly better talent that even with superior coaching you will still lose to them more often than not.

I agree that Stoops is doing well, but that UK team will never make any national noise.
