Dennis Dodd
@dennisdoddcbs
ND will apparently wait for Luke Fickell, apparently the No 1 choice. Jack Swarbrick suggested he will not name an interim. Assts being told to stay on the road. Strong Catholic ties with Fickell. ND wants renewed bond with traditional Midwest Catholic high schools in recruiting.

Its a slap in the face to Freeman to not name him interim HC. He should get the message he has no future at ND

He doesn't but it makes way too much sense for this to not be the play.

If you're Fickell, you're puttin a little extra in the donation plate this month. It is too perfect for him, especially if Freeman stays there as DC.

Well, if this is true then Freeman is probably gone to Cinc I'd imagine if Fickell ends up at ND. Would be weird as hell if he bolted ND to LSU then got offered Cinc job only to leave again. I think Fickell will leave for ND. Either way, I'd have to think Freeman is out if Fickell leaves. He either gets Cinc job or he says on with Fickell? Don't know. Weird scenarios.

This puts Cincinnati in an awkward position. I’d be stunned if Fickell didn’t take the ND job, but there’s no doubt he coaches out Cinci’s playoff run.

I think Cincinnati would target Freeman as their number 1 guy, but they might not open until too late. It could be a Manny Diaz-Temple situation where Freeman goes somewhere then leaves for the Cincinnati head job before ever coaching a game.

So who the frick is coaching the bowl if they aren't naming an interim?

They said they feel comfortable enough as a unit that they don’t need a head coach to coach the remaining games. I’m not kidding.

Yeah either freeman stays as dc for fickell or goes to Cincy. Don’t see him here.

I can't wait until they are in one of those situations where someone has to decide which unit to trust.

For some reason the scene from Remember the Titans where Boone tells Yoast to put some pressure on the QB and Yoast just tells Boone to worry about his offense...

If he wins Saturdy, ND is not going to wait another 3/5 weeks for him to start recruiting for them, which would be after the Dec NSD, and I highly doubt Fickell leaves before the playoff he's been building 5 years to get to. If he loses to drunk Dana, then I agree he's their guy. Dennis Dood's dumbass is not adding anything that isn't completely obvious.

If he isn't made the interim it's pretty obvious that this is not wanting Freeman to be named the first black head coach in school history. I've never heard of a school not having a named head coach going into bowl/playoff season at you're sitting at 6.

Lol at this tard trying to make this about race. They hired Tyrone Willingham like two decades ago.

Freeman needs HC experience in his resume. Cincy is a perfect set up for him. P5 next year as well.
