Possibly, but likely not enough to matter. Plus, he'll have better incentives and protection as a HC in guaranteed money.

Sure. LSU is a bigger school with more prestige than FAU. But a HC job there does more for him than an OC job here.

Not even remotely. He has been at Bama and will likely be one of the reasons they have won 2 national championships, and yet he wasn't able to land a big time gig. His odds of becoming a big time head coach are much better taking a program and building it up than they are being an OC again, especially with his baggage.

I'll assume you meant as LSU OC than at FAU. Define success. Having a good offense? Tells you nothing about his ability to lead a team, as we see from all the whining about coach O. He has had tremendous success at a team about to win its 2nd national championship under his offensive leadership. Can't get much more success than that. And yet, he was still struggling to get back into the HC world. Both positions would have been good for him to improve his image and build his stock. But he stands a far better chance at landing a big time HC job quicker by taking a HC job at a smaller school and showing he has matured. Having success under O could just mean again that he can run a good offense under a head coach who will keep him straight. Hell, he had great offenses winning NCs before becoming a head coach the first time. Running an offense is something he has always been able to do. Until he can prove that he can run a program, the big boys won't take a chance on him again.

I know this doesn't fit the sky is falling, Orgeron sucks, LSU is about to go 0-12 narrative you were shooting for, but it's just the facts, man.

No it's not. Not for Kiffin, anyway. He has to prove that he can handle the head coaching gig at ANY school before he can move to a bigger, better conference. As long as someone was willing to hire him to be the head coach of their school, it was a better move than a lateral move from a school that has won multiple national championships since 2007 to a school that hasn't won any in the same time.
