Channel 7 in Little Rock reported on coaching search....

last night. It was interesting because the sports reporters have finally resigned themselves to what we have all been saying all along. The long and short of the interview was that people within Arkansas apparently have an entirely different view of the program than anyone outside the state. The reporter said that the fact that so many coaches have turned them down tells you that it is not viewed as a good opportunity and that they need to realize this, hire someone (anyone) quickly and stop the bleeding.
It was really pretty funny to hear someone in this state finally admit this

I guess it depends on the criteria you use.
Salary Opportunities: Good
Facilities: Superior
Recruiting: Average/Good
Fan Base: Strong but like the chopping block
I think what makes UA a problem for guys like Tubby is that the best we can do is match his salary...why make a lateral move from a program you've spent years developing and have job security?
The coach from Wake Forest knows he has a few years of safety and such a bad program that 7-8 wins is a top goal.
We should be going hard after Coordinators looking for that big time opportunity. And theirs lots of good ones out their right now.
My two cents.

Razor, not sure why an established coach outside of the SEC would not be interested. SEC is the top conference - win here and you are a great coach.
As far as coordinators, its always a big risk. For every Bob Stoops, there is a Mike Archer.
Every time I hear this Malzahn name, I think of Gerry Faust at ND and the piggies don't need that.

I've said it before that Arkansas is a nice program, but it's not one of the best 20 programs in the nation. More than that, you just ran off a guy who won 18 games in the last two years, and everyone knows that the new coach is expected to be better than that.
And it's hard to do better than that at Arkansas.

Esp. when you lose D-Mac.

First, I can't believe that they didn't have something lined up or in the works at the end of the season. Nutt was gone. Everyone knew it. He had probably been negotiating with Ole Miss for a couple of weeks. That was not put together in 20 minutes.
Second, forget the big name coach. The coaches winning NCs were not big names at big schools when they were hired (Tressel, Saban, Meyer, Stoops, Coker). In fact, only one was a HC at a BCS school before going to the school where he won the NC.
Malzahn is not the answer. But a DC or and OC from a BCS school is. I just think that the powers that be were not ready for the inevitable and now they are paying for it.

why make a lateral move
lol on Auburn to Arkansas being a "lateral move". More like a significant step back if you ask me.

And Felix Jones, and Peyton Hillis and Marcus Monk.
The potential will be lacking next year.
Muschamp told some Arkansas media members at the Broyles Award that his phone was on.

I don't really know much about the big man or Kansas for that matter (who does other than what we have seen this year) but I have been thinking the same thing. Was this year enough to buy his way out of the corn fields and into some real football.

Go look at his resume. He's not a one year wonder. He's proven to be a very good football coach.
