Here is a little bit from Los Angeles Times. I think there is more out there now about this.

That's a given. If they are talking numbers he certainly has interviewed. Insiders from SC say it is truly a done deal. Looking hard at Riley as coach and Coach O as DC. Would not be surprised to get Chow back (now that PC will be gone) as OC. SC wil be fine.

The defensive coordinator for Minnesota turned down an interview request because of that. Didn't want to be the token black dude.

Mike Garrett was quiet and doesn't say much walking to his car tonight, but his tone says it all. Doesn't look like he expects Carroll back.

Coach O as DC

If that's the case then the USC defense could be even worse than they were this year. No major college program would make the mistake of hiring O as a coordinator.

Athletic director Mike Garrett is expected to target Oregon State coach Mike Riley as his No. 1 choice. The other top candidates are former USC players: Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio and Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher. Another possible candidate, according to sources, is Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh.

Mike Riley over JDR and Jeff Fisher? No way they get Fisher, but if JDR is out in Jacksonville I could see him taking the job.

You would think Carroll would have learned his NFL lesson already. Memories are short.

If people lived life by never doing things over again that they failed at the first time, we would be royally fricked as a species.

Maybe he learned from his last experience and will do better this time with the lessons he learned?

Yeah, not the point. The NFL is pretty unforgiving when it comes to coaching. At U$C Carroll could ride out an eternity (within context) but could be gone after 6 games in the NFL.

Sure that's the point...

But, he could also stay and get hammered at USC when the NCAA finally starts scraping away the slimy film over the USC program.

I know it's USC, but this isn't going to happen.

I would have thought Petey learned his lesson the last two times he failed in the NFL, I guess he's going for the trifecta.
