Is he coaching anywhere at the moment?

Not every great OL can be a good OL coach.

1. How do you know?

2. Even if you're right, don't we have enough recruiters on staff? We need technical expertise too, not just charisma.

Grimes tweeted a pic of O last night with the caption "LOVE THIS MAN - can't wait to go to work...and help him bring home a Championship!!!"

That doesn't sound like a guy about to get canned.

I've shifted my opinion of Mawae. I'd rather a successful OL coach from another school. LSU needs to overhaul their OL recruiting.

Y'all realize Mawae has zero coaching experience? Don't get me wrong, I love the guy and what he did for LSU and in the NFL, but y'all are crazy to think this should be his first coaching gig

He's currently an assistant O-line coach with the Bears

He is like a coaching intern with the bears now

But his dumbass lobbied to be the OL coach when we hired Grimes with really zero experience

He has less than a year experience

Thanks for the correction. I didn't realize that. But even more to my point....a 1st year assistant OL coach, to come take over a huge spot on LSU staff?

I honestly don't know what amount of experience is "enough" to be a college Oline coach. I was in favor of Grimes over Mawae simply because at that point Mawae had actually zero coaching experience. Maybe a year in the NFL is enough? I dunno
