I missed any discussion (if there was one) of this coaching move.

From a completely outsider perspective, it seems like an odd move to make. From what I understand Bronco (great name) has always been a west coast/mountain area coach.

I imagine BYU can pay well, but was this a money move?

Nothing against UVA since it's a great school in a cool place, but they aren't really a name in football and he doesn't seem to have any natural ties to the area.

I think it just came down to him thinking he took BYU as high as he could and Virginia has a lot more potential. Just my opinion.

Not sure what he was making at BYU, but I assume UVA offered more as well.

UVA has all the potential to be a top tier program.

The only things holding them back are admission standards, culture, and a lack of football pedigree.

But I agree, if Virginia could managed to lock down the D.C.-Baltimore Metro area, then they would be in good shape.

It is a pretty odd move

Considering how long he has been there, the lack of history at UVA and the fact that he is mormon.

He received a significant raise to go to uva. He has also expressed concern in the past over BYU wanting to be independent rather than finding a spot in the power 5. I think he sees a ceiling at BYU that doesn't exist at uva.

It was time for both sides to move on. Bronco was very successful in the Mountain West, but the Independent schedule and repeated injuries to Taysom Hill really killed the program's momentum.

Problem is, when Utah joined the Pac-12 and BYU didn't (not invited), they had to make a move to save face. That was going Independent in football and to the WCC in basketball. The university tries to spin this in a positive way, but it's really exposed BYU more than anything else.
