I think it’s a combination of a few things that you want in an OC: 1. Veer and Shoot is a proven system and he knows it as well as anyone in country beside his father. 2. He could recruit the shite out of Texas 3. He spent a year with Kiffin, who besides all the personal drama, could’ve taught him one power spread stuff and how to really tweak your system to fit your players!

Not true.
(1) Briles offense was tops in the country for years when at Balyor.
(2) He recruited and coached a few really good QBs all in a row.
(3) Briles gets to call all his own plays at FAU, but if you don't believe, then the previous points should suffice. Furthermore, working with Lane would be positive schooling.

Yes it sucks.
I dont really know what LSU is doing anymore. Im receiving what im receiving.
Random is hearing Jake Spavital and I havent heard the first mention of that guy
My guess is there are multiple searches going on at once and maybe im getting a portion of them and some are getting others.
Notice a recurring theme. Ensminger is NOT the guaranteed OC.

And if you compare names like Gilbert vs Briles.... which is a bigger name? Which has done it longer and better?

Yes this makes sense, so that is good.
With the recent huge commitment to Aranda AND JA concerned about his job, this is not the time to steer away from something you find mildly questionable (Briles).
And you are willing to pay good money????

Bad publicity is better than no publicity? Maybe broadcasting state wide the comment about "White Wimin" got more recruits attention/interest.

I'm not sold on Spavital. Most of his production as an OC has been when he's working for a HC who is known to be very involved in the offence (Sumlin and Holgorsen).

Promoting a guy who publicly said HE DOES NOT WANT THE JOB would be akin to throwing up your hands and admitting failure at the OC search. The PTB simply cannot allow that to happen. Offensive failures would cause all of their heads to roll.
