They say he wants the UT coaching position.

Should I freak out, or do you think he would be OK as a head coach in the SEC?

Pelini would have the big one on the sidelines at UT.

That could be a good hire.

You could do a lot worse.

If you want a volatile hothead go for it. Defense sometimes has really bad games, haven't been overly impressed with his tenure @ NE. UT should be able to do better but you may have issues with your current AD conducting the search. I, for one, would like to see UT gain a semblance of stability and take steps to regain their competitivess. Then again, we owe UT for a lot of past arse whippings, too.

imo, he'd be a big improvement over your last 3 coaches.

Just imagine the meltdowns...Saban on one sideline, Pelini on the other.

Seeing as he's underachieved at Nebraska, where they have unbelievable tradition, second to none facilities and they are the only game in town(state), I would be nervous as hell if I were a Tennessee fan. There is no reason for Nebraska not to be competing for championships every year.

I have to wonder if his personality is wearing thin in Lincoln, and that's why he's looking to get out. If he mellows a bit as he gets older, as most do, he could be a good fit at TN eventually. If not, as someone else said, he could have the Big One on the sideline.

Can you imagine him at Tenn, then he and Saban have the Big One in the same game.

At this point, Pelini would be a good hire and another coach raided from the Big 10

I like Pelini as a DC, but I don't think he has done that well as a head coach. The opinions I've heard from knowledgeable Nebraska folks have been very mixed.
