you mean the coach with a losing record is fine taking less than a long term championship winning coach?

Good to know.

He should be happy with like 2.5 Mill with a shite ton of incentives.
Its seems like his Coordinators will be doing like 50% of the work so they shoudl probably make half as much as him. And we aren'y paying them 2.5 mill.

O's job is basically going to be to deliver funny one liners in the presser and convince teenagers in a talent rich state to stay home....and he'll do it for "only " about 3mil!!! Gee willickers what is Alleva waiting on to make this official??

He's not some master chess player, but what he's done with their QB situation is very underrated. He's calling plays that fits what his talent can do, and putting them in a position to succeed, all while running a new system. I laughed my arse off at the odd couple that was Saban and Kiffin when he was hired there but Kiffin was a slam dunk.

I agree, his offense has changed every year with each new quarterback, and he is good at finding and picking on the opposing teams weaknesses.

The people latching onto O in hopes Kiffin is right behind him are in for a disappointment. He's going to get a head gig.

Don't get me wrong.

He is going to be a monster recruiter which is a fricking enormous part of the college game.

He is going to keep the team pumped (hopefully) and that is a big part of the game.

Hell we could have won championships if Les let someone else run the offense.

One person who works for a coaching search firm countered, "Concentrating on one side of the ball is a mistake. Leadership is No. 1. That does not come because you come from one side of the ball."
randomly found that in this article about Brent Venables and why he isnt a HC after being DC at Oklahoma from '04 to '11 and then Clemson from '11 till now. his defense was number 10 last year. number 1 the year before that. Its not like hes some secret.

the sentence before it says...

Seventeen of the 29 new hires in the offseason had offensive backgrounds.
no one has any idea how long Aranda will be a DC, and spare me what some dipshit on the radio said. from what we've seen so far, I think hes as good as there is on any level, and hopefully he's here for a very long time.
quote:

"I really believe that my job is better than a majority of head coaching jobs that are out there," Venables said. "There are not many places where you can have it all. I believe that I have been at a few places I have had it all, and I don't want to let it go."
Hopefully Aranda feels the same way about LSU. from what we've heard he gets along well with Orgeron and would likely become the highest paid coordinator in CFB next year.

Fedora makes just under 2 million as HC at North Carolina.

we can pay Aranda that. we can pay him HC money. based on his personality, i doubt he loves recruiting. it doesnt seem like him. we can make it so he never wants to leave, very easily, so everyone just calm the frick down and don't freak out until there's a reason to.

Bag men and hype men aren't hard to come by...

Having to bat 1.00 on every coordinator hire? That's not all that east.

Never pretend like a school recruits itself.

We have an advantage for those who will hustle, but for decades Louisiana was picked clean by OOS schools.

And OOS kids have to want to come here too.

Not my first choice obviously but there is a certain point where the risk of other coaches equals the risk of Coach O.

I'm not saying it recruits itself but finding and paying recruiters is not hard.

BDP could not coach his way out of a paper bag, literally everything you put him in coaching charge of goes to shite....yet that penis looking mother fricker is regarded as an outstanding recruiter You pay that guy whatever and he's staying put because he's a dime a dozen

You pay for high end coordinators and you have lots of turn over. The pressure would be continually on to make the right hire.

Sad but true.

I always wondered how we were so bad in the 90s. Apparently LSU fans secretly like mediocrity.

Bama to LsU with a head coach with a shitty resume is not a lateral move no matter how much you want to believe that

We have some gullible arse people on this board. Guy hears interview with O that says he and Kiffin talk every week and comes here with "Kiffin and O are much tighter than I thought". If LSU were to lose badly next week, it would be "guys the administration is starting to feel O might not be a good fit". Keep drinking the kool-aid.

Didn't Kevin Steele, whom all melted because we hired him, take a lateral last year? How bout chief? This isn't unprecedented.

"Leaving currently the best program in college football to coach the same position for any other team would be a down"

Less money is a down grade. Professionally, he can do everything at Lsu as he can at Bama. Saban was a great coach at Lsu prior to bama right? Bama didn't make him and they haven't nor will they make Kiffin.

Coaches don't look at Lsu and bama as some major program and mid-major. They are both great programs. Now fans have that arrogance. Bama wasn't all that great for close to 10 years prior to Saban. He'll AU, Tn, and Lsu owned them.

Is bama on top now, yes. Is Lsu a shite program that another coach would not consider? Nope

Didn't Pruitt leave a n.c. Program @ fsu for Georgia? Case settled. It's not the program.

I'd feel safer with Aranda as HC and O trying out DC than the other way around.
