1. I completely understand the emotions and the rants and venting going on with the fans. While we all understand this sin't life and death, it's "just football," it is still extremely important to fans and fans have a vested interest in the hire.

2. After following the coaching carousel for 2 decades I thought I had a pretty good handle on how the process unfolds. Obviously, I don't. I'm clueless.

3. Thanks for letting me hang around. I'm getting an education from the LSU administration showing me just how little I understand the process.

Once this is all over and y'all get your coach and things settle down, I'll post and explain How differently I assumed this process would have gone down than how it actually went down.

Bottom line: I am shocked that Jimbo or Herman wasn't locked up at least a month ago. I would have never believed LSU would wiat until the week before the season ended to enter into "serious negotiations" with an agent about money.

But, hey, this all could be a smokescreen and on Monday morning Jimbo will walk out from behind the curtain and Alleva will be laughing on the inside about all the rumors floating around knowing that Jimbo had agreed to the deal 6 weeks ago.

Like I say, I know nothing. And, that is becoming more and more obvious every passing day.

Hope FSU has started searching for a new coach.

Alleva let everyone know that he'd have a hire pretty much locked up by this weekend.

Either it's Tom Herman or CEO.

At this point, unless the 'smokescreen' theories are accurate, Alleva either pulls Herman or his AD goes down as a national embarrassment and disgrace.

... no pressure for the meeting today.

How do you know they weren't? Or did you expect LSU to annouce their agreement while both of them still had games to coach? Good lord.

Sorry but you're not an "outsider". Your coach is still at the bargaining table. By the end of the weekend you'll either lose him or see your annual required donations go up 30%.

Oh my God, I just figured out the "Diamond era" reference.

An extra letter at that retail establishment, though, correct?

(For the record: I don't buy it, but humor me...)

I can't take that credit. Another fan thought of that. It was quite clever!

My play on words was just a step up from 'Golden Era'. I just thought it had a nice 'ring' to it.

This happens because it gives both sides the opportunity to find leverage somehow. If the coach finishes the season in brilliant fashion with his old team, he has leverage at the end of the season. If the searching school can find several coaches willing to talk, that gives them leverage at the end of the season.

Moreover, waiting until the season is over makes both parties "motiviated"--they are unlikely to get to their bottom line in the middle of a season because there's so much time left to look for leverage.
