I'm now hearing it'll be Arizona State OC Mike Norvell at Memphis. 34 years old.

Mike Norvell was the highest-paid offensive coordinator in the Pac-12 and third in the nation. ASU was top 20 in scoring 3 of last 4 years.

Arizona State coach Todd Graham told SI previously that Norvell is the best assistant coach he’s ever worked with. That’s high praise considering his former assistants include Auburn coach Gus Malzahn, Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris and ex-Texas offensive coordinator Major Applewhite. “Mike is the best assistant football coach I've ever had," Graham said. "He's the total package when it comes to understanding offense, defense and then recruiting. He's just off the charts."

ETA - Morris is the former OC at Clemson. Now HC at SMU.

There were times I wanted him to walk the plank this year but your assessment is 100% accurate.

He was about to put one of his recruited QB's on the field too...

Yeah, but Bercovici looked like shite sometimes this year, and then he'd look like a Heisman winner the next game.

And the D was garbage...

Berc's problems were generally being a pure pocket downfield passer in a spread offense with 0 good downfield recievers.

Good. He is clueless in the redzone. Maybe ASU will hire an OC who is old enough to shave and has no issues running power football inside the 5.

Did you see how bad the O-Line got crushed when they tried to run power football? At first I was with you, but by the end of the season it was obvious the O-Line couldn't get any push.

So does this mean that Memphis will continue it's semi-success or will they quickly be back to 2-10 and 1-11 seasons?

Is the guy even close to being somewhat as good as Justin Fuente was, or is he more on par with Larry Porter?

He's closer to Fuente than Porter as far coaching goes. But a lot will be determined by his ability to put together a good staff.

Norvell's been recruiting Louisiana at every stop he's been at. I wonder if he tries to get Juluke, or Aug's old coach that was at Tulane on his staff.

By "semi-success", do you mean beating y'all by 2 TD's and scoring 4 unanswered?

Fits a ideal profile for this job. I'm excited to see what he can do

Blocking schemes were shite.

Two of the best tailbacks in the conference in you backfield and you can't run inside the five.

Ridiculous.
