Anyone else think that Orgeron staying around as an asst is a bad idea?

I like O. But I think the new coach needs a fresh start without Orgeron hanging around. I think it will be harder for any coach to come in and win the players over while their choice for HC is sitting in the same room. I know he's a good coach and a recruiter but I think he'd be a constant distraction. A head coach shouldn't be the second most popular coach in the locker room.

Meh, it's all on how O and the new coach handle the transition. Keeping him could be beneficial if done right.

I wouldn't want him there if I were the new coach but it's up to the new coach. It just depends on his relationship with whoever comes in.

It's the opposite. Coach O staying on staff would be a great thing.

I agree

I doubt he'd want to, but if he did want to stick around I don't think I would keep him on my staff

It's clear as hell the players want him to stay on. They were literally chanting for him last night

If a new coach comes in and starts to impose his philosophies, if there is some sort of negativity towards those philosophies, the players will go to O and bitch to him about

It certainly has the possibility of splitting the locker room and sowing discord

ETA: BUT if O is the kind of guy that will get behind the new coach 100% and always have his back even when players complain, then I do think He could be an asset

That would be crazy to have a state as an assistant coach

There is no way in hell Orgeron stays at LSU if he is not head coach. No way. His wife has made it known to people close to her.

I agree completely

True. But O has been very political about this job.I certainly don't blame him. He wouldn't have the support he has otherwise. But he's got former players and the media (local and national) supporting him. It's going to be difficult to set that aside. Hell be like a backup QB ... fans will be calling for him after the first loss.
