Why? Teams frequently fill these roles later in January if not after signing day.

Impossible to know. I'd highly doubt that Orgeron has not reached out to him at some point.

Do most Bama fans still think O and Kiffin aren't close? They talk at least once a week. If not directly, he talks to O's kids. That's a fact.

Exactly. LSU fans are freaking out because we haven't lost a coach so early in the year and it's thrown the timing all off. In fairness, though, it also does appear that the not-knowing has for the moment cost us a pretty big QB commitment and may be preventing us from closing the deal on a really good RB as well.

It sucks, but getting the right coaches in place is of far more value than any one or two or three recruits. Wait till the bowl games end and the NFL season wraps and the staff will start coming together pretty quickly. There's not too much recruiting happening between now and then anyway.

Many teams don't make a formal announcement because it gives the head coach additional recruiting visits, however the hire is typically a done deal and recruits are told who their coach will be, albeit with a "wink, wink".
In this case, however, O really needs to solidify the identity of the team since no one has a clue at this point what type of offense will emerge. I'd say, in this particular instance, he needs to get this done.

This is the downside to social media, message boards and the like. People can check 24/7 and think these things should be decided NOW!
