A big name coach????

I know it's fun thinking about Saban, Spurrier, Del Rio, Rodriquez, etc.
But, what makes anyone think we're going to go hire a big name coach this time?
When Saban left, LSU was on top of the world. Just 1 year removed from a NC and great recruiting classes over the last few years.
So we went out and got the best coach available? Right.
No, we went out and got a coach who was good and AFFORDABLE.
Why would that change this time?
Look, I hope LSU ponies up and goes get a proven, great coach. But, nothing tells me that LSU will do this. Hell, look at who our BBall coach still is.
Sure hope I'm wrong or we at least get very lucky with whatever coach we do get.

I'm worried about the same thing... LSU didn't go big time with Miles, or even Saban for that matter... LSU is where both of them became big names... but, maybe its not a bad strategy.

i like thinking about all the big names too, but something tells me it will be a smaller name guy with some NFL connection
they have talked about that so much in the past, until i am proven wrong i will lean that way, BUT when ole miss miss and baylor are paying 1.7 mill and 1.8 mill a year what is the difference between an "affordable" coach and big name coach?
i should talk to my "inside source"

because all of us who actually know people in the program or are in positions to know are hearing the same things. and these are sources that have been right before.

the last ime LSu got caught with their pants down. Saban left on Christmas. Not alot of big names out there. A few guys, Del Rio, was just bad timing. Miles was the only candidate viable at the time, plus you needed someone to get in quick because of recruiting. Not the case now. LSu has been prepared for this and learned lessons form last time. I think they will get a coach and are willing to pay the price.

I hate to qoute a guy twice in 1 day, but Bill King on Rivals Radio this morning said LSU is one Helluva coaching job, one of the very best. His opinion was that LSU doesn't need to go out and spend big $$ to get a coach. He didn't really speculate on candidates, but said the job is so good, the list of up and coming coaches is endless.

When Skip hired Les Miles, it was because Saban screwed us over on the timing of his leaving. All the potential big name hires (Spurrier, Meyer, et. al,) had been picked off by other schools. In Miles, Skip saw a chance to not only get a head coach from a major conference, but since he wasn't on anybody's radar screen, to get him on the cheap as well.
I think if Miles leaves, his replacement is once again going to be somebody we're not even discussing as a possibility right now, i.e., a lesser name like a Brian Kelly or Chris Peterson.

the reason it will be different this time is a different guy is looking for the coach. Mr. Lombardi, who hired Spurrier at Florida, the same guy who hired Billy Donovan. He's the reason it will be different this time. He's a take control guy who is in charge of this thing.

ron zook is the guy that keeps popping up in my head...for no reason of course
my inside source didn't tell me (even if he did...would still go unnamed), but i just feel a surprise coming like a norm chow, ron zook or gary gibbs

Hey, I hope you guys are right. But, I'll still believe it when I see it.
As for the Saban left us high and dry, that's even worst.
The year before(it seemed like every year) some NFL team was flirting with taking Saban. So the Admin should have known or been better prepared then.
We will see. If Les leaves of course.
