Dan Quinn is not making Raheem Morris the DC for the Falcons. He would be an assistant if he joins staff per source

Broncos linebackers coach Richard Smith will likely be the defensive coordinator with the Falcons. He'll run the run defense.

UPDATE:

New info, SMITH will be the DC, not Morris. Morris will be the assistant HC/DB coach

Hate we lost Tice, but understand him wanting out.

I do too. What he did with the Falcons Oline was pure magic. However, we will most likely be moving to a zone blocking scheme, which I don't think is what Tice does, so it might be the best for everyone.

I'm more of an NFL fan than Falcons fan, but I've been here a long time, so I'd rather them win than someone else.

That said, I lost what little hope I had for them.

I am very happy about the pick ups so far.
Smith has previous work as a DC, and has worked with Quinn. Morris is good friends with Quinn. And love the Kyle Shanahan pickup. When he had a somewhat decent qb, his offense was top 5 (Houston). And actually being able to get any offensive production out of Washington and Cleveland (and their terrible qbs) makes me very optimistic on what he will do with our high powered offense.

They seem to be aiming for mediocrity with their late 2000s era Texans coordinators, one of whom was fired.

Which is why Quinn is our head coach. He hired someone to not frickup his D, not run their own defense.

One of those coaches was a part of a offense that was ranked #4 one year and #3 another (one year being #1 in passing).

He had a bottom 10-11 defense in yds allowed per game each year he was with the Texans. And that was with Mario Williams, DeMeco Ryans and Dunta Robinson.
