Based on Shoop's comments, looks like DC won't be hired in the next 2 days, what do you think?

I agree that Shoop's comments were interesting.

The truth is that nobody knows. There is zero information coming out of LSU (official or not) about the status of the coaching search.

Well, dang. Can you at least include the comments and/or a link in the OP? I'm sure it must be in one of the other threads but it would help if you identified the comments you are referring to in here.

He said the timeline of LSU's search was not feasible for him. Some would infer that means it is not going to be done anytime soon.

Recruiting period opens up again on Thu Jan 15 for the last free-for-all recruiting dash.

I would think that Les absolutely wants to have his staff ready to go for the stretch run at the recruits. So that means he has to make hires within the next 7 days.

At this rate I'd be happy having a DC by the time Spring ball rolls around.

He didn't hire Cameron until after NSD.

True. CCC came aboard Feb. 8th when NSD was the 6th.

That was when he was announced. When was he hired?

In other words, when was it pretty well known that it was going to happen?

Shoop was not offered the job immediately but he could wait as candidate for Miles to make his final decision. Given he was offered a raise, he couldn't wait to see (maybe) he is going to be hired by Miles.

I didn't see Shoop's comments but could they be construed that the timeline he was referring to is that Miles was only able to offer 2 year contract vs. 3 from PSU? If so, we have heard that before in this search and perhaps that is part of difficulty in getting someone to sign up. I certainly don't know.

Miles is running this search like he likes his offense, I formation, 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

Maybe it will work? It has in the past.

It would seem that he should have a little more sense of urgency this time around, but I guess we will see.

It is not exactly surprising that Shoops said no thanks given the circumstances. Miles is essentially asking the man to jeopardize his current job for the possibility of getting the DC job at LSU.

Sadly, I think we get Haley (and Miles was okay with that all along).

If he was THAT okay with it, he probably would've hired him already like he did with Stud.

Les' timetable was too long for Shoop. Franklin said he wanted that process over with by the weekend IIRC. So that seems to mean Miles is willing to check out the options til at least this weekend or later.

Stud was a battlefield promotion because of the illness with Kragthrope. Everyone understood.

If Miles didn't do his due diligence and perform a coaching search after the Chavis fiasco, the natives would be unsheathing the long knifes.

I hope I'm wrong, but it seems like the type of charade I have seen in academic job searches when an in-house person is already lined up.

The timeline is being stretched out because Pendergast is fielding interest from NFL teams and he is Miles #1 choice. Miles is willing to wait on Pendergast because he believes that Haley will be a quality DC and is a reliable backup plan. Thats what my sources are telling me.

I agree totally. The inferred comments from Shoop about timeline, says Miles is waiting on someone working for the remaining 8 NFL teams.

Perhaps. Les might have given him a "in the next x days" line, and Shoop had an offer from Franklin/PSU for more money on the table that expired in less than x days.

I imagine 2 days is a long shot now, but it could have been today if Shoop didn't take himself out of the running.
