I'm all for changing offensive coordinators, but I really hope we run a pro-style offense going forward. We have a great backfield, a big pocket passer (hopefully), really good recievers including a good tight end, and a pretty good O-line. If we get an offensive coordinator that runs a pro offense then we will likely be able to recruit 4-5 star QBs easier going forward.

WTF do you mean? Why can't I have an opinion on the kind of offense we run. Personally, I'd rather run an offense more like Alabama than what we do now. I don't like option plays and would like to throw the ball way more than we do.

:cringe:, I dislike it when people say like Bama does, just sounds like you are still pining for Saban. At least say like Stanford does. Also, I think when people say Pro-Style, they really just mean anything but the spread. That's why the guy was probably calling you out on that.

But yes, we should run more to set up the pass and have a power running game and a pocket passer. We are recruiting that way and that's what Les wants.

1. weak side option out of any formation, but i'll pick tight end doubles with a single back off-set to the weak side.

2. changing to a shotgun spread package with 4 WR on the goaline (cluster frick formation) with time winding down against an unranked rebuilding conference foe.

3. Change to your pocket passer (Lee) and Rollout run/pass option on 4th down and 6 with 3 minutes left against a top 5 team. This formation is probably empty backfield with trips left

Some pro offenses use a single back (Alabama) others use a full back too..

Gimme the single back all day IMO

The only reason I used Alabama as an example is because people on this board are more likely to have seen their offense rather than Stanford, FSU, etc...

I agree though...I don't like the gimick plays either.

You would think a well executed Pro Style offense would allow us to recruit the best QB's and lineman.

The best recruits have their eye on the NFL. So, it would seem, set up your offense to suit that type of player and the best will want to play for you.

I think LSU would kick butt with Stanford's power style football...with play action passes, screens etc to go with the power running game.

I really don't care what the hell it is as long as we have:

1) Some sort of identity
2) It works

I like the single back sets myself but what will Les do with the enormous platoon of fullbacks on roster?

I would like to run a multiple set offense with pro style and some pistol included. I think we could benefit.
