Moscona seemed to go off the reservation on the coaching search today

(no pun intended with the search being to replace "The Chief")

I usually find Moscona pretty reasonable with his takes on things LSU. So it was a bit troubling that he was kinda down-talking Shoop and promoting a Haley/Ogeron combination.

Referred to Shoop as being from "small private schools" and that his Penn State D was ranked so high because they only played two good/highly ranked offenses all year.

Said that Shoop's background (receiver at Yale, etc.) wouldn't lead to him being able to go into southern living rooms and compete against the likes of Saban for kids. Also said that hiring a "young black" defensive coordinator would help with New Orleans kids.

Sometimes I think that station has gotten a little too close to Ogeron from having him on their shows and it colors their take on this search.

Saban's background is a tiny DB from Kent State.

Miscona is right. What's impressive about a successful coach with a Yale education?

A fat shirtless recovering alcoholic redneck is much more impressive.

Does he have a valid opinion?

I was blown away by his take and yes I think the station has lost objectivity

I'm sure he has several of them. But this one didn't come across to me as a very well reasoned one.

Yes Matt especially since Croom, Whittingham, Shannon, Joker, Mason, and London have dominated the recruiting circuit because they're black.

Yeah I was listening to that today also and I really didn't agree with much that he was saying.

Truth is Miles and staff keep things like this so tight lipped that no one knows what they are talking about and just speculate on just about everything.

Station definitely all in for Orgeron though.

He made some very valid points. But I do think he was going bit too far. Shoop hasn't been hired and we don't know if he will. I also think he is overreacting on that there hasn't been a hire yet. Only thing that matters is that its done by the time the dead period is over. This gives Miles a little more time. I rather him get it right rather than rush it.

Recruiting is great and all, but at some point you have to coach the kids on the field.

How many guys has Haley gone and got, and then really underperformed on the field?

God bless Moscona for what he's going through with his baby, I've even donated to his cause...but he is and has always been awful on the radio, he feels he is 100% right on every subject and leaves no room for debate without him hurling insults at his listeners.

Better trolling material to support the promotion most hate. His arguments against Shoop were pretty lousy. Shoop has succeeded in some pretty tough areas to do so, that's more than brick can say.

Moscona is always off the rez ... arrogant know-it-all, with a chip on his shoulder .. I can't listen 5 minutes... his favorite tic - an he is always doing this - is to intro an interesting topic or story on the front end of a segment , and then say "..and we'll be getting to that later " and then go off on some bs . Typical radio hack sop to keep listeners hanging with the show while the blather goes on . Generally that "breaking interesting , scoop" is some lame bs anyway. I got wise , and turn him off ...

Totally agree. I almost called in he was pissing me off so much. It's been exactly one week and he was bashing Les for not hiring someone and it took Sumlin almost 2 months.

LSU isn't recruiting people for their MBA program. Do you think most of the guys they're recruiting to play football give even a little bit of a shite that a coach is a Yale graduate?

He's either trolling with this or just wrong. He tried to get Russ Mitchell on the air today to say other people thought it was taking too long but Russ didn't go for it.

If les gets shop...home run

he is just big boned, and not a redneck.

he is however unemployed, so he is a rant favorite. We love unemployed coaches.
