Can confirm reports that Houston's Tony Levine is expected to be fired Monday. Levine has a meeting scheduled with AD Mack Rhoades.

Previously the ST coordinator, he succeeded Sumlim after he bolted for A&M. About a .500 record in three seasons, but mostly remembered for embarrassing home losses to Texas State and UTSA, the latter of which occurred as they opened the new stadium this year, completely sucking the momentum out of the season. He stymied the program momentum created by Briles and Sumlin.
Name being tossed around now as a replacement who would make a lot of sense is Ohio State OC Tom Herman. He was previously OC at Texas State and Rice, having spent a number of years coaching in Texas.

I get the decision because UH doesn't want the program to lose momentum after opening a new stadium.
However, I feel like they've lost a lot of close games over the last couple of years. It's not like they sunk back to Dana Dimel levels either. I'm curious who they end up getting.

I think Rhoades and co. feel the need to keep up in the conference expansion game. The ultimate goal is move up to a P5 conference--obviously the Big 12 would make the most sense for them, but the Big 12 doesn't seem to have any interest in return.
The Sampson hire in basketball was a home run as far as UH is concerned. I think Herman would also be a home run.

Leach makes 2.75 million which is rather steep but would db a splash hire if #UH decides to go in different direction.
