CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Ravens OC Gary Kubiak will interview for the Broncos' head-coaching vacancy this weekend. After shooting down head-coaching inquiries from the Bears and Jets and committing to the Ravens for 2015, Kubiak has decided to take an interview for the recently-opened Broncos' vacancy. Kubiak spent all nine seasons of his playing career in Denver and then was on Mike Shanahan's coaching staff as QBs coach and OC for 11 years. A Shanahan pupil, Kubiak runs the same offense. He coached GM John Elway and is said to be "far and away" Elway's top choice.

He'd be a good hire, and probably the safest they can go with. He's a good fit for what they probably need to get back to if Manning is finished.

So what, if PM leaves, that place will be a dumpster fire quickly.

99.9% chance Kubiak is the next HC of the Broncos

Like when they won a playoff game with Tebow at QB. Or like how it's more talented than KC or SD without Manning.

You talking about the past chief.

Yes, absolutely positively the will regress without manning. The receivers are an extension of what manning does. Manning took so much of the cap money, other rplaces weaknesses will show. Manning was able to cover those up.

They aren't good now, and somehow you'll think they win more NEXT year? Wow

Dumpster fire? No. Will they be worse? Probably. Are they still a playoff team? Probably.

And Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas, Von Miller, Clady, Vasquez, Chris Harris, TJ Ward, Talib, etc. are not good because of Manning. Most were good before Manning (Julius the exception). The reason Fox was fired is because the Colts game was not reflective of the talent.

Elway found his most natural puppet choice, aka his old caddy/backup.

From the sounds of it tho, if Peyton retires, the Broncos are going to blow every thing up and rebuild

They might have to soon either way because of all the huge FA contracts they've given out and their homegrown talent getting closer to hitting free agency

Kubiak was the offensive mastermind behind his two rings. Not Shanahan. He did well in Houston all things considered.

Peyton retiring would actually help them keep everyone. As it stands, they've done a good enough job structuring their contracts, that the only major losses expected are Julius Thomas and Knighton. What Von Miller is worth is the big guess. Is a player that disappears in big games and is one drug test away from a year suspension worth $90M?

The Broncos sudden demise is overblown. Losing Manning will hurt, but that's their only real problem, and frankly, he was done for half a season, and they coasted through their division.

So you make up a fake argument and argue against it? The guy clearly didn't say that

Yep, they took a win-at-all-cost NOW attitude......that usually ends badly, especially when your leader is weakoning and you just lost a playoff game AT HOME. They will never have a better chance next year with the same players, much less losing arguably the best qb ever (stats wise)

Btw...the only pass I have ever cheered for that PM threw, was the pick 6 to the Saints.

Read it again homey....he clearly says they are more talented than KC or SD without Manning...even though SD beat them this year...LOL

The will have to win more next year to be in the playoffs ahead of those teams....

Do you get it now or do your require a map

Kubiak's offense is not a good fit for Peyton. I requires a lot of boots and waggles. Peyton is too old to be on the move. So if Kubiak is hired, I say bye-bye Peyton.

You might want to consult the schedule and results again there hoss. Denver was undefeated in the division this year. 5-1 last year with a loss to SD.

I keep seeing this, and while I agree there's more rolling out, it's not like Flacco and Schaub were mobile. Schaub career yds/game: 2.5, Flacco 5.6. Both are marginally more mobile than Manning.

San Diego did not beat Denver in 2014.

By the way, not only did they lose twice, they lost both times by 12 points and 14 points.
