Kubiak's defenses at Houston weren't the issue. He needed a Qb and for some reason didnt want to take the risk at getting Peyton. I'm assuming this means Peyton will hang it up.

what team were you watching? His first 2 DC hires were buddies from back in his Denver days and both were disasters. The only decent defense fielded in the Kubiak era was when daddy Bob mcnair hired wade Phillips for him.

He needed a QB
he hitched his wagon to Matt schuab bc schuab would do as he was told and not challenge big dick Gary. If he didn't think schuab was good enough, he should've invested in a QB other than 7th rd pick TJ Yates or UDFA case Keenum. It's a bit convenient now acting like he was saddled with shitty QBing. It was his own doing.

didnt want to take the risk at Peyton manning
gary would never let a QB have more control of the offense than him. It's his offense. His way or the highway. He's stubborn. Yall will see.

i think so, too. Kubiak would easily be the worst coach Peyton would have played for. All those years of peyton smoking kubiaks arse in division, he's probably got no respect in ole Kubz

Not as stubborn as Elway. Kubiak was a great OC with the Broncos for over a decade, I'm happy to have him back.

Not so fast. This is exactly what Peyton needs, a coach that ill establish a strong running game and take some pressure off of him. They can replace the bootlegs with straight up play actions while Peyton is under center.

hes a pretty average NFL coach, evidenced by his 3 games under .500 record. why are you excited to be mediocre? all the signs say this guy is average. you think hes just going to magically become belichick 2.0? hes not, hes just an ordianry head coach. i do think hes an excellent coordinator where he just worries about the offense and leaves the asst coach hires, leadership, and drafting to someone else.

who do see running those bootlegs/waggles/play action? osweiler or manning? i dont think manning wants to learn another offense, an offense hes not going to have full control of. JMO

He may only be average. I'm not super thrilled about the hire. It's the one I expected as soon as they let Fox go. I'm really just glad it isn't either of the Shanahans.

Fox was only 2 games above .500 in his career prior to Manning coming to Denver. For whatever that's worth.

I think the Kubiak/Manning issue is over played. Manning has a great relationship with Elway. He may retire, but it won't be because the Broncos hired Kubiak. I guess we'll see on that.

when Peyton left the colts, one could argue that the texans was the perfect landing spot: indoor stadium, coming off a division title and playoff win led by tj yates, good OL, QB friendly system, good defense the first year under wade phillips, jj watt.

i'd bet it didnt go down b/c kubiak said he could/would win with schuab, "if i can win a playoff game with yates, we can win it all with schuab!!!" some of the shite gary kubiak pulled in houston defied logic. he'll turn the denver donkeys into a league afterthought soon enough.

if you want to know who kubiak wants to hire for his staff, just do a google search of everyone whos been on a staff with him. he wouldnt dream of getting the best coach available. no, hes going to hire his buddies whom hes familiar with. who he knows wont challenge him.

That may all be true. But Schaub had a few years where he played like a top 10 QB. So it's not like it was unreasonable to think they'd be fine with him. And you can't act like there weren't pleantynof teams that were wary of Manning's injury.

Another factor you shouldn't discount is Elway. His influence on the organization, for better or worse, is huge.

Like I said, I'm not thrilled with the hire. I expected it. And as a fan I can be miserable and complain, or I can be optimistic. I choose to be optimistic. And that won't change unless Manning announces his retirement.

i credit Kubiak's coaching/system for elevating schuab to a pro bowl(though for QBs its not some great honor since half pull out and they go deep into the QB roster) level. but he was also stubborn/miopic for thinking his system alone was enough.

The thing I don't understand is how he is better than John Fox?

I would have loved for Fox to come to the Falcons.

He'll be at aTm after Sumlin is fired.
