If the Chief hadn't waited so long to dump LSU, could they have gotten Muschamp? Or was LSU simply not going to pay what Muschamp would have wanted? From Muschamp to Steele - what a step down!

yes. Muschamp reached out to LSU first, long before chavis fricked us over, but we didnt have an opening. then we met with him on new years eve, two weeks after he took the Auburn job, just to see if there was any chance to get him here. by then it was too late.

No one, and I mean no one (even you) can read that with a straight face. WM wanted a head coaching job more than anything and was even trying to get his name into the Houston job at the end. However, his wife and family wanted him close to home to restore his coaching stock and figure out an appropriate balance between football and family. When no head coaching jobs came open for him, he took the best option for his career and himself. Auburn. WM needs to learn how to run offense and Gus needs to learn about defense.

Perfect match.

SEC in trouble.

The only problem I would have with Muschamp is as soon as an opportunity for a head coaching job becomes available he will be gone. He could be there 1 year or maybe 3 or 4. I can't fault Malzahn though as he went out and got a solid DC as he knows he needs to get his D in order for next season. If you can start your search for a coach, whether it's a HC or coordinator, just before the season is over you have a much better chance of getting the guy you want. It's when coaches leave a month after the season is over, like both Chavis and Saban did, the pickings are slimmer and you have less time to make a hire.

I'm not so sure about the "SEC in trouble" as it's so competitive with the coaches, massive stadiums, facilities and fan support that you could have a different conference champ each season for the next few years. We all know who the power programs are in the conference and whoeever wins out typically has some chips fall their way.

Obviously anyone with even a modicum of perspective knows you're bullshitting. But I have no doubt this is a prevalent belief among lsu fans.

Especially if some random guy posted it on 247.

As long as Alleva is writing checks, Les will never get the right hire.
