The true answer is that Miles doesn't want Haley leaving before National Signing Day because he has several recruits who committed because of Haley and Miles doesn't want to upset the apple cart. Haley's now public demotion to an administrative role may not be good news for a couple of our commitments. Haley will take the DC job at Cinn, DL job at A&M, and there were two other schools who are interested. Corey Raymond also gaining a lot of interest from other programs as well including Oklahoma.

Is it possible Brick will be co-DC? I don't really know much about Steele's and Brick's history except what I've read the last few weeks through the board. However, Steele seems to be really good regarding player evaluation, teaching, and even defensive strategies and concepts. His weakness appears to be real-time decision making. Could we be giving Brick that responsibility?

You have been spewing incorrect, 100% fabricated "insider info" on here for days. I'm guessing you're just a troll.

Raymond makes a lot of money at his Alma Mater to coach defensive backs. He isn't leaving unless its for a DC position. You think Oklahoma is making him DC?

Brick is the one that recommended Steele - this Co-DC may have some merit

what I don't understand is, if Les feels we needed a shot in the arm in recruiting why were were throwing out extensions like candy?
Well, the apparent thought process was that the staff was intact with Chavis (as everyone assumed he was going to remain our DC). A decent chance that Orgeron was already lined up to be hired, either by a move like this, or in a couple of months after we could add another guy to the staff (which would explain why he kept chiming in on LSU every chance he had).

After Chavis left, Miles had some decisions to make. Chavis was good at Xs and Os, but as we saw the past 2 years, that's useless without players (Welter at MLB made our defense very not-good). So while there were plenty of DC choices out there, I think Steele was considered the best recruiter... and thus the best choice. I don't think Orgeron was ever considered a real option at coordinator.

Orgeron had been waiting in the wings, and possibly they intended to add him in March or whenever, but after losing Chavis, it seems Miles had to make sure he didn't miss out there too. So he shuffled the staff;
I can see him talking to Haley and making sure he knew where he stood. If he stays, he gets LBs for next season (next month). If he's wavering, then he's the best choice to move out of rotation anyway.

This. IT's all orchestrated. Brick recommended the Steele hire, not something a man on the way out the door does.

Well, I felt aTm is holding off on official announcement of Chief for a reason. Chief can't hire and fire until it's official. So frick waiting for that only to find chief and brick have a deal in place, just haven't announced it yet.

That would screw us even more. If Brick is smart, this HELPS him recruit. Instead of being threatened, he could feel it helps LSU, which is what all this is about right?

Also, our new dc was a lb coach and now we are gonna name someone else a lb coach? No need.

Any recruiting setbacks will be very very temporary IF we lose Brick. I can and will hold his own. Actually, I doubt we lose anyone unless we want to.

Price of poker just went up boys! Enjoy!

Now all the attention will be squarely back on the qb production situation.

Time for a Harris tweet

Then why move Brick. Why not The TE coach.

Can Brick coach special teams? If so, fire Peveto and put him in that position. Then after the vote, go hire a real special teams coach.
