If you are an Alabama fan who got nervous, don't try to pretend you knew it all along. If you're an LSU fan who got excited, don't act like you were only doing this to troll the Bama fans. All this talk of "we're in your heads" and "I'm just stirring up the gumps/corndogs/barners/whomever" is just childish.

I didn't think he was going, but when I started to see this much smoke, it made me nervous. I've seen this happen before with Saban and it just ended in a bigger contract, but other times it ended in a shocked fanbase.

The one thing I knew all along is that none of us knew. Just like in recruiting, there is no such thing as an insider who "knows" what someone ELSE is going to do...and sometimes that person doesn't even know himself. It's 95% speculation with a few pieces of legitimate info out there.

Glad he's staying. On to the next rumor.

I will bump this next year when Saban decides he is not getting enough appreciation.

As an LSU fan all I could think if he went to Texas how many more local recruits would we start losing. I don't follow recruiting too much though and my post probably proves that. Although Saban has beaten us more, we have still beaten Saban a few times so I really didn't care either way.

I actually think the rivalry is more intense with Saban at Bama. However I would have liked Bama to get fricked over like we did just to feel it for themselves. Oh well, no big deal. Can't wait til Nov/2014

I was surprised that more auburn fans didn't engage. Ya'll have been pretty classy ever since the "kick 6" and it's throwing me off my game here.

Saban and Terry kept telling us over and over that they weren't going. They told their personal friends they weren't going. They told the staff and recruits they weren't going. Saban said his biggest regret was the Miami statement.

What part of all would make you think he was leaving Bama?

The only way he leaves Bama is if the UofA Admin runs him off or he retires.

Saban at Bama is better than Saban at Texas for LSU.

I am dissapointed I didn't get to see a melt of epic proportions.

I had fun reading all the fighting the past week. But as some has said saban at Texas is probably more damaging to lsu than him at bama.

Only thing I'll admit to is that it was fun to watch y'all squirm. I honestly didn't want Saban to Texas. The last thing I wanted was him in Texas with a potentially stronger recruiting position. I imagine LA kids growing up hating Bama and looking at Texas as a friendly out of conference neighbor. In my mind, we could potentially lose more recruits to Saban's UT than to Saban's Tide. No, excuses when y'all get smacked around next year gumps!

Personally, I think it's a great thing for two reasons:

- NOBODY is worth $7.5 million annually on a prospective basis... and every dollar spent on Nick Saban is one dollar that can't be spent on other aspects of the program.

- Saban is not going to match his recent run of championships, two of which came about with the aid of supreme fortune. When he does not, starting next year, Alabama fans will start grumbling that he has lost his touch and many will openly wish that he had indeed left for Texas.

No, be a man because you're not a boy. How you act on a message board says a lot about your character, because anonymity gives people freedom to say what they want without consequences.

And with all those reassurances he was given a 2 million dollar raise. Unlike you the admits ration must have thought he was lying.

I never was nervous. I never thought he would leave because...

1. the UT situation re: the instability of the president vs. the rich boosters is a cluster frick that Nick Saban never in a million years would have anything to do with.
2. the invasive nature of those boosters and the lack of control Saban would have...see #1.
3. the Big 12 isn't a big enough stage...a one loss SEC team will always get in the playoff ahead of a one loss Big 12 team, as they have been ranked all year long, no matter which SEC or Big 12 team we're talking about.

I always thought the supposed smoke was just a power play on the part of those who wanted Brown out. Put out the stories about Saban being a done deal to force Brown out. In the mean time, as most astute professionals would, Saban and Sexton used it to their advantage.

This was a smaller reason why I didn't think he would go. I have never faulted Saban for the Miami statement because I've always thought a man has a right to change his mind, and if Saban changed his mind about coming to Alabama, then so what? But he (and Terry) could also change their minds about staying. But I never thought they would.
