Is he even still pretending to be working on them?

Thanks Ole Nan.

So...is the general consensus that he's just waiting around to die so he won't have to finish them? Will somebody else step to the plate and take it over?

Ok, I assume to the best of you people's knowledge he will not be finishing the books. I assumed as much. Cheers

Well, Ben, it could be worse. I started reading the damn series when Clinton was still in office. No, I don't think he will finish. Yes, I'm pissed.

He's got way to many little stories going on within the book and doesn't know how to bring it all together. He doesn't know how to finish it and the HBO series (which is terrific) will be the end all be all in my opinion.

I think he will. I think he will buck the path the tv writers have taken just to be a dick, though.

He should at least have a complete outline. Then have someone else fill in the details if he can not finish the book himself.

He has an outline of events, but he has to many irons in the fire and his fire to write the Fire and Ice series is not there.

Ya that would be giving someone co-writing credits, which he probably does not have a want to do

He has publicly stated that he would not agree to that.

No but I'm not pissed over it. Hopefully his publisher picks a good author to finish it out for him. Make his estate another $50 million. He could be a selfish a-hole and block that from happening though. Not sure what type of deal he has worked out with his publisher.

Pretty sure he's doing just that. He's not happy that people are predicting his death and has stated many times that when he dies, the IP dies with him.

I doubt it.

If I was his publisher I'd have Brandon Sanderson on retainer and standing by a red phone. As soon as the fat bastard croaks there'd be a pre-filled out check on it's way to Sanderson via armed courier. The courier would have instructions to witness Sanderson cash or deposit the check and then stand by with hand on weapon until the books are finished.

I too have been reading these books since Bill fricking Clinton was in office. I've re-read them twice.

FINISH THE GODDAM BOOKS FATMAN!!!

If I recall, Sanderson doesn't really care for the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, as it's far more graphic than he likes to get (being the good Mormon that he his).

Basically, Sanderson would be a poor choice to finish the series.

i can see that - sanderson is a very different style author (i haven't read much from him yet though). I am immensely grateful for him providing a quality ending to the Wheel of Time Series, which suffered with Robert Jordan's deteriorating health and eventual death.

Luckily, RJ had left tons of outlines, notes and said he had the final portion of the book in his head for 20ish years. His wife helped edit and finish up the series after he passed.
