His Joe Rogan episode is a go-to for me to recommend to people . I’m sure that book is fantastic and highly informative

May have to reserve this at the library myself.

Master and Commander by Patrick O’Brian. Once you get through the chapter with all the sailing lingo it’s pretty good. I’m about halfway through and it’s surprisingly funny.

Captain Aubrey is trying to remember a French word and says “I think it’s putain.

Doctor Maturin says no I don’t think that’s it. Aubrey says that’s definitely a word, I remember hearing it.

I looked up and the word and the definition just said “French for whore.”

Had to take a break due to a rash of insane migraines and some other health issues.

It was great. The chapter where samuel realizes its time to leave the farm and he talks his wife into going to stay with their kids for a "vacation" really got me. That chapter and the one where they're talking about the meaning of the story of cain and abel were really powerful.

I’ve been to the Salinas Valley many times. It’s easy to imagine the edenic beauty before the trash towns that now occupy the place.

I pulled up on Libby how long it’d be to get Shogun and it just says “several months”. Haha.

Blood's Game - Angus Donald, arguably the best historical fiction writer you've never heard of.
