Thank you liberals, you have ruined a movie I have waited years on. I hope literate african-americans are happy.

anyone else NOT ok with Roland being black in the new movie??

I'm not mad that he's black. I'm mad the the movie isn't a dark tower movie. Outside of three characters there's nothing the same.

I wanted to see Roland and Eddie and Detta and Jake and Oy.

Something like:
Hugh Jackman/ Michael Fassbender
Aaron Paul
Taraji P. Henson/ Zoe Saldana
The kid from Stanger Things

Not Idris Elba in a western.

I'm going to take a hard pass on that, thanks. And that sounds like a very poli-board thing to say!

Kind of digging that! I don't like Aaron Paul for Eddie, though. I mean, I'm no Clint Eastwood, but he's gotta be ONE OF THE LAST FOUR GUNSLINGERS LEFT when he cleans up. jmo.

I read these up through Wizard and Glass. I really liked the first book. The second and third seemed to have a very different feel and I didn't like them as much. Wizard and Glass was great and I loved the setting but after going back to the story of the journey I wasn't interested. Reading them all back to back in a short time might have burned me out some though.

I don't care if he's black.

Ethan Hawke for Eddie?? He's almost 50 but he looks younger.

@nes
I guess I got lucky with that because once I got to 3 or 4 I had to start waiting for the next ones to come out. I do remember trudging through a few chapters at one point or another, though.

Aaron Paul basically already played Eddie in Breaking Bad, not sure how he wouldn't be awesome. Smart arse junky who is capable of being a badass when needed, he could basically just slip right into the role.

My favorite part of the series would be in Drawing of the three when Eddie goes into the bathroom and brings Roland over, then they go to town on the gangsters.

I can't wrap my head around AP getting it. You'd have to get the right Susannah and she'd have to be perfect. Anyone have any idea how old Eddie is?

... I saw a movie once with Robert Pattinson that was post-apocolyptic. I didn't know he could really act...

Both Hawke and Pattinson would definitely be a more serious angle. Ethan Hawke would probably be pretty terrible, actually.

I mean, come on.

My copy doesn't have that cover, and Clint Eastwood never had hair that long.

Imma be so pissed if they cast a black crow instead of that ambiguously brown one.

The cover's not about him being black it's about whether he's a cowboy or a knight.

No, I do not. I will look it up! I get paid tomorrow and will be picking up either "the wind threw the keyhole," that 10/12/63 (i know that's wrong) book everyone is talking about' or I will finally dive into "the wheel of time."

Thanks for the suggestions! If I ever manage to sucker anyone into a kid "charlie the choo choo" will definitely be on the shelf!

A 1995ish Jason Lee would've nailed Eddie.

Take a closer look before you gift it to any kids!

quote:

Charlie the Choo-Choo is a children's book by Stephen King,[1] published under the pseudonym Beryl Evans. It is adapted from a section of King's previous novel The Dark Tower III: The Waste Lands. It was published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers on November 11, 2016.[2]

quote:

The book was first revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, where a limited edition of 150 copies were given to attendees. Actress Allison Davies participated in a book signing at the event, portraying the fictional author Beryl Evans

I would shelve between 'Three and 'Waste Lands...in this order we would know what Jake is reading before we see it, but I guess it would officially be DT 3.5?
