Question: Kelsier is alive. I don't think book covered how or why - other than referring to him as more or less of a spirit. Do any other books in the Cosmere explain how Kelsier can still be living?
I thought I read in one book were it alluded to essentially nailing his soul to a physical body with a spike, could be wrong though.

Do not think specifics of what, when, and who helped him connect his cognitive shadow to a body was revealed.

The novella Mistborn Secret History has the answers you are looking for. I recommend reading all of the novellas and books in publication order the first time through.

That makes sense.

Looks like that novella is included in the Arcanum Unbounded collected novel. Do you know if I can read all the novellas in that book and not be spoiled for anything I haven't read yet?

Arcanum Unbounded has all of the novellas up to Rhythm of War I believe. It doesn't have Dawnshard which is right before RoW, the full White Sands graphic novel or the 4 secret projects that came out this past year.

I saw the post that you've read Stormlight up to Oathbreaker I believe, Mistborn era 1 and some of era 2.

So there should be no spoilers in the Arcanum Unbounded for either Stormlight, Mistborn or Warbreaker. If anything it will shed more details/origins on some characters you've read.

The exception is Elantris. There are 2 short stories related to it. One is a direct sequel to Elantris and the other just takes place on that world but is independent.

In onf of your posts, you asked about Moonlight. She's in the one of the novellas there. Several characters from the other series are there in Stormlight/Roshar under different names. Some more obvious than others.

Fyi to avoid spoilers make sure u stay away from https://coppermind.net/wiki/Coppermind:Welcome until u are caught up. Once u are caught u can go there and see all the connections, WoBs (words of Brandon) that give more info on the Cosmere.

I got some stormlight minis today, they are pretty badass. Here is Adolin in shardplate. I got Dalinar, Jasnah, Szeth, Kaladin, and Shallan. Basically all the painted ones they released.

Wow, great answer. Thanks for posting. I ran by Barnes and Noble last night and picked up Arcanum. I’ll read that before doing my re-read of Stormlight and working on the Stormlight books I haven’t read.

“Secret History” has spoilers for Era 2. Should be read after “The Bands of Mourning.”

Edit to add: I see that poster is through all of Era 2 at this point.

Just got copies of Alloy of Law and Shadows of Self Leatherbound Editions as a present.

They are phenomenally well done. I’ve only ever read these books on my kindle so re-reading them with full color maps and newspaper articles and character sketches is awesome.

I’m waiting to preorder incase he releases a special through DragonSteel

Should we start the discussion now about whether or not Moash dies?

And if he does, will it be an absolutely epic battle between a full power Kal and full power Moash? Adolin v Moash? Some sort of team skirmish? Betrayal by Odium/Taravangian?

I have read who BS thinks will be the 5 flashback characters in Stormlight Arc 2 and its interesting to say the least.

I have no idea how this ends because the whole idea of Arc 2 casts a shadow over it. Obviously there is a bigger story at play.

My original thought was some of the new Radiants take the place of the old ones in holding back the desolations, with people like Dalinar and Kaladin either dying or taking huge back seats.

Just wanted to post that again. frick that dude.

I didn’t realize until re-read that Moash is literally the first person Kal interacts with when he decides to take being Bridge leader seriously. He is the first person Kal befriends. He is the first person to take training seriously in the chasms.

And then he betrays it all.

frick that piece of shite.

The biggest nugget in there for me is confirmation that it's Mistborn in active development for an adaptation. Many assumed it would be Mistbborn as it makes the most sense but this is the first official confirmation I've seen.

Also based on Sanderson's current plan, probably won't see Stormlight 6 for at least 6 years after Wind and Truth comes out next year. He plans to do Mistborn era 3 and Elantris sequels next. Though we should get another Stormlight novella (Rock's story) at some point.

Yeah the Mistborn stuff has been pretty known for awhile, this is the first time it has been mentioned as "active" development though.

Also, he named the Mistborn Era 3 Novels.

They are called "Ghostbloods"...which is pretty huge news.

I hope he does. And I hope Moash believes he is redeemed. I hope it’s played out 100% straight. And then I hope at the height of the redemption arc Moash is smiling and says “Thank you for believing in me.” Kaladin grimly looks at Moash and says “Forgiveness is better than you deserve” then stabs him through the heart anyway and says “For Teft” as Moash slides off the tip of his spear dead. Then Syl spits on his dead body and says “For Phendorana”.

Or even better maybe Kaladin says “I forgive you Moash.” And Adolin walks up from behind and says “but I don’t.” And as Moash turns he stabs him in the gut and says “On behalf of King Elhokar I send you to damnation.”

I’ll be interested to read that trilogy. I loved Wax and Wayne way more than Kelsier and his crewe, so a Kelsier heavy ghostbloods trilogy with Shallan possibly lurking around doesn’t make me super excited. But I hope Marsh is all over that third trilogy. Old Ironeyes is still one of my favorite characters in the Cosmere.
