Been considering starting these.

Is Stormlight or Mistborn a better series to read first?

If you're new to Sanderson, then Mistborn is the easier read, but in my opinion Stormlight is the better series.

Also worth considering, Mistborn is complete while Stormlight is ongoing.

They are vastly different stories from each other, but also tenuously related. (If that makes sense)

I just looked on Amazon, didn't realize there were 7 books in Mistborn.

There are so far 2 different eras of Mistborn, so you can treat them as different series.

His Cosmere books "somewhat" all intersect.

Stormlight is his magnum opus imo, its the best written of his series. Misborn Era 1 is fairly amateur at times.

If you want to read them without spoilers and understanding 90% of it...

I'd read Mistborn Era 1

Stormlight 1-3

Mistborn Era 2

Stormlight 4-5

Just to be clear, you can read Stormlight without reading mistborn at all and be perfectly fine. There are some minor things you will not get but they will not effect you much

Thanks, may just start with Stormlight since it sounds like its better than Mistborn.

I'm reading Wheel of Time now and just don't find it very good and looking for something new.

You can do that. There are going to be some things in Stormlight, especially in books 3-4 that you may not fully get without any Mistborn background, but you should be ok.

They take place on completely different worlds in the cosmere

There's definitely some stuff in Mistborn Era 2 (which I love, its some of my favorite books) that you wouldn't get AT ALL without reading Stormlight

Really, you can enjoy it any way you like.

I love stormlight. The 1st book might be one of my favorite books of all time

I read stormlight before Mistborn, you really don’t understand you are missing out on anything while reading, so it’s not like you feel you are lost, just another mystery in a book full of them. I’ve much preferred Stormlight over Mistborn now that I read both.

Stormlight is without question much better.

I love MB era 2 though.

I’d throw “Warbreaker” in after Mistborn Era 1. “Warbreaker” is a sneaky favorite of mine.

Probably my favorite book by him outside of the Wax and Wayne books (I've only read the first storm light book forever ago, waiting for the first 5 book series to be done before reading any more).
